If it comes back to bite us, its our fault.

Having done much research into India and its problems with Covid, I have learned much.

India is in trouble, and it is not getting much help. Not enough anyway. Yes we have our own problems, but can't we at least pray for these people. It is true they have continued with their festivals of religion in large numbers. But many do not understand the dangers of Covid. Many fear it in ways that are beyond the pale. We are throwing away money here in the US like no tomorrow, but where India is concerned we send "beads for the natives".
If the world does not step up to the plate soon to help third world nations, then the virus will indeed come back to haunt us once again. We must help these people.

My heart is broken over one single little old man who after his wife dies of Covid cannot find a single person to help him get his wifes body to a makeshift funeral pyre or crematorium. Tried to carry his body on his bike. The picture in this link shows him standing near his wifes body helpless and not knowing what to do. No one to help. I imagine now he sits alone, old, lost, and in shock. Who do we pray for now? Ourselves? or our children? Perhaps for that little old man who is so lost in his heart. Having done much research into India and its problems with Covid, I have learned much.

Send firewood!

Sorry if that sounds unfeeling, but I am sick and tired of people trying to make me feel obligated to intervene.

There are more than a billion Indians, and the Indian govt. should be able to do something about this.

Regards,

So another billion and a half people we American tax payers are responsible for? “America last” truly is the democrat motto.

But their daily death numbers are at about what New York’s was at its peak, yet NY is a country of 20 million while they are a country of 1.4 billion. Yes, every death is tragic, but how is this different from all the other ways people die in India?

And how do we know the numbers are just finally being politicized there, as they have been here for a year?

Is this the same India that has aircraft carrier, submarines, modern air force and army, wealthy cities and classes - that floods the US with H1B tech workers and gorges on ‘off-shore’ tech work contracts...

And yet they’re still “little brown brothers” that need to be taken by the hand to show ‘how to do what they should’?

Patronizing and insulting.

And how do we know that Modi isn’t using Covid the way Cuomo did?

He’s using COVID to kill the expensive elderly to reduce state HC costs.

Get rid of the ‘dead wood’.

I wish it was easier to help. I wish there was a reliable entity that I could make a donation to ship massive amounts of bottled oxygen. But I harbor deep suspicions that my donation would end up in someone's pocket and no oxygen would make it to any clinic.

Look - I am sympathetic to the Indian people and having worked in Hyderbad and Bang I know a little bit about them. I wish they, as a group, made better life decisions and were better able to avoid bitterness and divisiveness.

They are completely capable of developing vaccines and therapeutics without outside help. They already have massive amounts of hydroxyClor and ivermectin.

Reading someones blog is not going to help.

India since Modi has seen open-season on Christians. The persecution has been brutal there, unbeknownst to 99% of the world outside India.

I can’t help but feel that this ‘new strain’ virus came courtesy of the CCP in retaliation for the gall shown by India in the little border war they had a few months back.

That wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

Fatalism can be fatal.

No, we must help American’s first. We have problems right here and we have no more money.

Oh GMAFB.

India has a population problem bracketed with sanitary issues which eclipse the US in the late 19th/early 20th centuries. The article is very clear in this respect.

The problem is not only the health of the general population, but its culture. How they avoided a widespread outbreak until now is debatable, but like western countries this virus demonstrates an ‘appetite’ for both the elderly and unhealthful/diseased.

What? We’re now to bleed money to fix other country’s problems unrelated to the damned virus?

NO WONDER AMERICANS ONLY GET A SNIPPET OF SO-CALLED ‘STIMULUS’. Some support is obligatory of a moral sense, but I feel no obligation to fund their cultural/societal deficits which directly undermine their burgeoning population.

We will only become poorer for it.

The 9am National Public Radio BBC program had a very sound Indian woman who had lost her father tell how bad things are in India due to Covid.

India was described as the pharmacy to the world on a previous 9am NPR BBC program.

I would bet 90% of the Indians in this country voted for Biden. Had they not, Trump would be helping India now. Biden is a China puppet and China is now laughing at India.

“Is this the same India that has aircraft carrier, submarines, modern air force ...”

And where over half of the population don’t have access to toilets according to a recent National Geographic. Their own upper class has failed their lower class.

“The U.S. goods trade deficit with India was $23.4 billion in 2019. Trade in services with India (exports and imports) totaled an estimated $54.1 billion in 2019. Services exports were $24.3 billion; services imports were $29.7 billion. The U.S. services trade deficit with India was $5.4 billion in 2019.”

https://ustr.gov/countries-regions/south-central-asia/india

What, $28.8 billion (for 2019 alone) doesn’t buy much anymore?

“half of the population don’t have access to toilets”

I remember a “Peyton Place” show from circa 1957 mentioning tar paper shacks.

I used an outhouse at my Aunt Margaret’s & Uncle Joe’s camp until my father put in plumbing in 1968.

“I used an outhouse ...”

Don’t know whether National Geographic considered an outhouse a toilet.

This subject reminds me of something I’ve noticed about masks, namely, they don’t seem to diminish the smell of a fart or other smells. So how much filtering do these things do?

One thing they do diminish is the quality of people’s voices.

Shouldn’t they be Britain, the Netherlands, and Portugal’s responsibility before they are ours? I don’t remember any “American East Indian Company” from my history books...
