The scrolls were already 200 years old when they were stashed in the caves. It would be like someone today hiding the original copy of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of 1789...........
Many of them. As I remember some of the doctrinal scrolls were more current. So many now I have lost track, what with all the modern distractions. :^( I have a rather large digital file directory on almost all of the scrolls, mostly older, some of the newer advancements and discoveries. As I say, getting harder to keep up. sigh
IAA {Israel Antiquities Authority} have been searching the Dead Sea area and finding new caves, trying to keep ahead of the 'poachers'. I don't know of any noteworthy new discoveries, however.
