Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 30

Psalm 30[a]

A psalm. A song. For the dedication of the temple.[b] Of David.

1 I will exalt you, Lord,
    for you lifted me out of the depths
    and did not let my enemies gloat over me.
2 Lord my God, I called to you for help,
    and you healed me.
3 You, Lord, brought me up from the realm of the dead;
    you spared me from going down to the pit.

4 Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people;
    praise his holy name.
5 For his anger lasts only a moment,
    but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may stay for the night,
    but rejoicing comes in the morning.

6 When I felt secure, I said,
    “I will never be shaken.”
7 Lord, when you favored me,
    you made my royal mountain[c] stand firm;
but when you hid your face,
    I was dismayed.

8 To you, Lord, I called;
    to the Lord I cried for mercy:
9 “What is gained if I am silenced,
    if I go down to the pit?
Will the dust praise you?
    Will it proclaim your faithfulness?
10 Hear, Lord, and be merciful to me;
    Lord, be my help.”

11 You turned my wailing into dancing;
    you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
12 that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent.
    Lord my God, I will praise you forever.

Oh LORD, Our God,
How Excellent is Your Holy Name!
How Wonderful,
How Perfect,
and How Hallowed!
You Alone Are Worthy of Praise and Worship,
For You Alone Are The Most High God,

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

It has come to my attention that FReeper "circlecity" is in need of prayer. I do not know this person, but there were some grim posts from him/her on the America Prayer Thread two days in a row.

When I was going through some of my darkest days, Free Republic was there for me.

Dear Father in Heaven, we lift our FRiend circlecity up in prayer this morning. We ask You to comfort our FRiend's heart, and to reach out to him/her in a mighty way. Though weeping may endure for a night, let Joy come in the morning. Banish all fear, worry, doubt, and hurt to the lowest pit of hell from which they came. Bring the Oil of Joy and the Garment of Praise to replace mourning and sorrow. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Yes, I have prayed for circlecity. Such suddenly mysterious posts. Apparently a solidly biblical Christian? No evidence of a spouses’s death or a sudden disease; the Lord knows, and that is what matters.

The LORD knows the details.

Sometimes we have to “pray in the dark” because we have no idea what the situation is.

The important thing is to be obedient to God and pray, not dig for details, gossip, or even offer our own sage advice on the matter. Sometimes, when we get too specific when asking for prayer (like describing a diagnosis, an upcoming procedure, details of a domestic or marital dispute, or whatever), our beloved brothers and sisters in Christ and Fellow FReepers start advising actions, recommending cures, of even expounding on Theology. (I, too, have been guilty of this!) When a person asks for PRAYER, that’s what we should do!

That is why I am happy that I know so little about circlecity, EXCEPT that our FRiend needs prayer.
