Sir Elton John has criticised the Vatican of "hypocrisy" after it said the Catholic Church cannot bless same-sex marriages.
The Vatican’s orthodoxy office, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, responded to a question about whether Catholic clergy can bless gay unions on Monday saying that God "cannot bless a sin".
John, who married David Furnish in 2014, subsequently lambasting the response on social media as he said the Vatican had invested “millions” in his 2019 biopic Rocketman.
“How can the Vatican refuse to bless gay marriages because they ‘are sin’, yet happily make a profit from investing millions in Rocketman – a film which celebrates my finding happiness from my marriage to David?? #hypocrisy,” he wrote.
Back in 2019 it was claimed the Vatican had helped to finance the biopic, with the story first published in the Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera.
The article explored the various investments said to be made be the Vatican via its Peter's Pence fund, stating that “over €4 million went to finance the production of films such as the latest Men in Black and the biography of Elton John, Rocketman.”
In its explanation on same-sex unions, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith said God “cannot bless sin”.
“The presence in such relationships of positive elements, which are in themselves to be valued and appreciated, cannot justify these relationships and render them legitimate objects of an ecclesial blessing, since the positive elements exist within the context of a union not ordered to the Creator’s plan,” it said.

Elton John hits out at Vatican
So “Tiny Dancer” and “yellow brick road” are no longer allowed to be played in the Vatican?
I’m confused...
Those poor kids. They will grow up confused.
God makes the rules, Sir Elton Faggot.
The UK’s other old Queen.
I clicked the link, and didn’t find any more to the article.
LOL
Cat Fight!
The Vatican invested millions of dollars in a movie about Elton John?
That’s weird, too.
Does he cower from the Islamic Cult and criticize the Catholic Church because it is weak and led by homosexuals?
Very weird. I actually enjoyed the movie, but not an appropriate investment for the church.
God and churches cannot bless gay marriages. It is not Christian. Anyone doing this follows Satan.
"for refusing to bless homosexual marriages." I'm so tired of the pro-sodomites hiding behind that formerly harmless adjective. Call it as it is, dammit!

The Vatican is not a monolithic organization.
The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and Peter’s Pence fund have different goals and responsibilities.
Peter’s Pence fund could have chosen a less controversial investment vehicle from a moral outlook but perhaps the people making the choice were not even Catholic. The Vatican does employ non-Catholics.
Here’s an idea, Elton. Why don’t you sue God? You know you want to. Most of the world wants to for various things in His Word. See if you can get a lawyer to go through scripture and find a legal angle for you to sue God on. Good luck with that.
Maybe he should discuss the lawsuits against him from many men for sexually assaulting them.
In other news, my dog keeps bugging me for more bacon bits. Isn’t there any thing else more important than a flamming fag and his anti christian views to report on?
EJ rejects God and His definition that the homosexual lifestyle CHOICE is an evil obamanation.
