Those eye-placements did not evolve through natural selection; rather, God created both predators and prey optimally. He wants predators to cull the herds only of the weak, ill, injured and aged, thus preventing their mass starvation by overgrazing, resulting in far greater overall health for both herds and hunters.
That is His design for a world full of human evil, while He is eradicating it. But He tells us a time is coming when predation ceases and the lion lies down with the lamb.
I agree, God created what we see, and did so for the reasons you pointed out. Nothing is by happenstance nor as a result of evolution.
