Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Lambs, Sheep, and Shepherds

.

Revelation 21

A New Heaven and a New Earth

21 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”[a] for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’[b] or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

6 He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. 7 Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. 8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

The New Jerusalem, the Bride of the Lamb

9 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. 11 It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. 12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. 13 There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. 14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

15 The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls. 16 The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia[c] in length, and as wide and high as it is long. 17 The angel measured the wall using human measurement, and it was 144 cubits[d] thick.[e] 18 The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. 19 The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.[f] 21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.

22 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. 25 On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. 26 The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. 27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

It's Saturday Night again, and although another snowstorm is predicted, I expect to be playing bass in church tomorrow. (The snow isn't supposed hit us till the afternoon.)

Most of us remember the Spielberg Movie "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." I only saw it once, because, even as a HUGE fan of Sci-Fi, I found the movie exquisitely BORING until the very last scene. All the nonsense about people making towers out of their mashed potatoes and obsessing over a quirky little tune was not what I expected after all the hype. However, as the screen filled up with the starship touching down in the American Desert, it suddenly got very exciting. The Special Effects were terrific, but, in my humble opinion, not worth sitting through the whole movie to see.

Tonight, in our Sunday Edition of "Lambs Sheep, and Shepherds" we are given a glimpse of the End of Days. And what a glorious picture it is! After plagues and horsemen, beasts and dragons, virgins and harlots, demons and warring angels, we are treated to a Vision of the New Jerusalem. This magnificent city comes down from Heaven to Earth like a massive starship touching down. The build-up is anything but boring. As a matter of fact, the Book of Revelation is exciting from beginning to end. It has fascinated scholars, artists, translators, and laypeople for nearly 2000 years. Since I read it once through every month as part of my own Bible-Reading Program, I must have read it over 100 times, and I STILL find it exciting.

Another name for The New Jerusalem is "The Bride of the Lamb". As a Bride, she is beautiful, pure, and full of joy. The Lamb is, of course, Christ, Who is also called "The Alpha and Omega", "The Bright and Morning Star", The Light, The Lamp, and The Temple.

Even with all the modern tools at one's disposal, no artist can possibly capture the Glory of this Scene. But they sure do TRY!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America!

I join gladly with you in the prayers you specified, especially so for the peace of Jerusalem. But I love the peace inherent in the New Jerusalem, along with its other unique characteristics, a portion of which God revealed to us through John.

For example, we can confidently infer that it will have new physical laws:

No gravity--the city is described as being a cube nearly 1,500 miles on a side. Everything we see in our current creation of such size has no corners, because gravity rounds them off.

No electromagnetism--God will provide our light personally.

God created our present physical laws to assist in conquering evil. But He won't need them ane longer, because then evil will have been banished forever.

Until then, however, blisters still occur, so....

This refrain came to me as I began to think of Jerusalem tonight....

There’ll be singing, there’ll be shouting
When the saints come marching home,
In Jerusalem, in Jerusalem,
Waving palms with loud hosannas
As the King shall take His throne,
In the new Jerusalem.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh what a day....
Praying for Peace in Jerusalem as God has asked us to do in His Word.
Devil’s Tower is in Wyoming...Close Encounters is a big seller at it’s visitor’s center.
But this scene is much like what is hyped in SciFi and shows like Ancient Aliens.
But we have the real thing!
Joining in prayer, left that other site, for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.
Psalm 25
Of David.
1 To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
2 O my God, in you I trust;
do not let me be put to shame;
do not let my enemies exult over me.
3 Do not let those who wait for you be put to shame;
let them be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous.
4 Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
teach me your paths.
5 Lead me in your truth, and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
for you I wait all day long.
6 Be mindful of your mercy, O Lord, and of your steadfast love,
for they have been from of old.
7 Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
according to your steadfast love remember me,
for your goodness’ sake, O Lord!
8 Good and upright is the Lord;
therefore he instructs sinners in the way.
9 He leads the humble in what is right,
and teaches the humble his way.
10 All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness,
for those who keep his covenant and his decrees.
11 For your name’s sake, O Lord,
pardon my guilt, for it is great.
12 Who are they that fear the Lord?
He will teach them the way that they should choose.
13 They will abide in prosperity,
and their children shall possess the land.
14 The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear him,
and he makes his covenant known to them.
15 My eyes are ever towards the Lord,
for he will pluck my feet out of the net.
16 Turn to me and be gracious to me,
for I am lonely and afflicted.
17 Relieve the troubles of my heart,
and bring me* out of my distress.
18 Consider my affliction and my trouble,
and forgive all my sins.
19 Consider how many are my foes,
and with what violent hatred they hate me.
20 O guard my life, and deliver me;
do not let me be put to shame, for I take refuge in you.
21 May integrity and uprightness preserve me,
for I wait for you.
22 Redeem Israel, O God,
out of all its troubles.
