For many people right now, the aftertaste of the 2020 presidential election is bitter. They feel that something is very wrong with our country. But what is it?
For current events, it may be useful to look through the eyes of an adversary that many thought had been vanquished: the USSR in the 20th century
The Prophecy of

I’m always in awe every time I step into a grocery store (or any store for that matter) at the bounty available, and for a pittance when you stop and think about it. We just bought apples for 39 cents a pound! Imagine the cost, time and inconvenience if you had to grow your own food.
The free market (aka, capitalism) is nothing short of miraculous.

Soo yeah the Russian psyop of infiltrating the American right worked to perfection took e’m forty years but they finally got their revenge for President Reagan .
4 out of 5 Cheney's agree!
Spot on!
But with empty shelves it will be easier to make it down the aisles with the wheelbarrows full of cash in order to buy that loaf of bread.
There was another prophet of sorts for which he was also silenced. His name was Joeseph McCarthy who warned us of the influence of the “reds”
He was accused of having “ no decency” when it all actuality he had the decency nonetheless to sound the alarm. Unfortunatly, America responded by hitting the snooze button.
I thought it might be fitting to do a c&p from another thread to make another point of how suttle the destruction from within will creat our downfall.
let me explain how greed helped destroy the auto industry in Michigan. (I know the word destroy is an exageration) however.....
During the middle of the last century America began to see a surge in auto production. New plants were built and new hires were added to produce the new demands.
Along came such options as the popular muscle cars and demand futher increased. Gas cost remained relatively cheap.
Manual labor was demanded. In all fields of skilled as well as unskilled labor. Robotics were yet a thing of the future.
Along with surging employment and the American dream, came new demands from the union ranks. Rather than face shutdowns, management caved to demands. And why not, times were good right? The middle class began to flourish.
Then came Carter....high energy costs, high inflation, high interest rates, and surging unemployment numbers.
This not only affected heartland America but as well the manufacturing center. Production jobs were now getting layoff slips and futures were uncertain. The automobile manufacturing base began to crumble because many of the manufacturing base were the consumers of the new auto purchases.
Since then we’ve seen the ups and downs of market demands. But one thing remained unchanged. Unfunded liabilities to fund the previous demands of the union entitlements and liabilities.
Fast forward to 2008 and the housing market. That bubble was about to burst and when it did it created a vacume. We were now in a manufactured recession.
Government (well, taxpayers) bailed out the banks and to a large degree the auto manufacturers.
But what affected the auto industry ( besides government overeach) is the demands of entitlements agreed to decades prior. When times were good they were booming. However, the iou’s were not funded for the rainy days. These are the unfunded liabilities which crippled the auto industry and handed control and oversight to government control.
Unfunded liabilities coupled with government regulations will be the downfall of America and will create a dominoe effect in several sectors of the economy.
We will collapse from within.
You can’t lay the entire blame for the demise of the auto industry on the unions. Globalization did that. Continues to do that.
In my post I listed the unions as a contributing factor of the manufacturing base demise.
The reason Trump had to be removed, and to your point, he was against globalism and he was rebuilding the middle class with the America first policies.
All of the above.
1000% Zoomer Boomer approved!!!
Karl Marx,Stalin,Hitler,Putin

That Alt-Right commie asshat Steve Bannon has admitted on more than one occasion to being total a self proclaimed closet Lennist statist Bolvishiek.
He failed in Europe in getting Putin’s fascist socialist nationalist a going
But lefty Zoomer Boomers like you buy into it because deep down you’re all wanna be Leninist and Hitler’s radicals..
Aleksander Solzhenitsyn had a great deal to say about the depravity of the soviet union and his shock of the west’s decadence. He mentioned, when first in exile in 1974, that the “legal bar” in the west was way too low, much lower than the bar of moral standards. He talked of America’s freedom as being “unbridled.” The press all operated with the same group think. He warned us of these things in his Harvard Speech in 1978.
Solzhenitsyn is one of the most brilliant men who ever lived.
I’m glad that now in Russia he is mandatory reading.
He should be mandatory here.
Ronald Reagan signed more executive orders than any president since. Imperial presidency. Somewhat authoritarian you might say.
Organizations like AEI and The Cato Institute who pretend to be for free markets are supported by the Saudis and end up shilling for large corporations to keep their think tank budgets in the black while the federal budgets continue in the red.
Neoconservative naivety, incompetence and/or corruption led to a wasted war in Iraq that turned an authoritarian state that was nominally an ally of the US into an Iranian puppet state.
Neoconservative naivety continues to keep troops in a place called "The Graveyard of Empires" for more years than any other place the US has gone to war with.
It took a populist like Trump to get the European NATO nations to start shouldering part of the burden of protecting Europe from Russian encroachment.
A populist like Trump expanded the military yet kept us out of new wars.
A populist like Trump tried to eliminate illegal immigration and limit legal immigration via H-1b and other programs lauded by neoconservatives and libertarians.
A populist like Trump actually attended a Pro-Life rally unlike the spineless dregs coughed up by the neocons.
The neocons gave us NAFTA which replaced US with North America during a time when there was talk of an American Union like the EU and the dollar replaced by the Amero. A populist like Trump gave us the USMCA where each nation was recognized as an individual nation. He also kicked the TPP to the curb to the wailing of the libertarians, and gnashing of teeth of the neocons.
A populist like Trump could cut scads of regulations because he didn't have to keep those regulations crafted by crony capitalists to limit competition; the same crony capitalists that fund AEI, Cato, Heritage, etc.
I wish that Trump didn't have to do so much by EO. The nation is polarized. Pretty much nothing of value gets through Congress, and Trump couldn't even count on his own party which was still awash in neocons and libertarian utopians.
Neocons used to have more sense. I remember in the 70's when people like Ben Wattenberg used reams of data and statistical analysis to show that government programs often had the opposite effect to that intended. This was and addition to, and not an opposing view of, the moral argument made by traditional conservatives. I remember Jeanne Kirkpatrick who had a more realist perspective on foreign policy. Even the gambling addict William Bennett seemed to have his head on straight when it came to priorities at a department that should have been cancelled along with the Departments of Education and Energy.
George Bush did try to privatize Social Security (and if he had right before the housing crash it would have been the end of the Republican Party) but except for that no Republican of any stripe made any real effort to limit government. So the alt-right has a lot of company on the right when it comes to being OK with big government.
There are some odd characters on the right like Keith Woods from Ireland who believe in something called the "Third Position" which is a form of fascism. However, there are many more, especially American conservatives, who are more likely to be Distributists or who believe in relatively free markets with more protections for workers and communities that can be victimized by global corporations.
As you know there is a wide spectrum of thought on the "right". But even on the supposed "far right" there is still a wide spectrum. It might include Russell Kirk's form of traditional conservatism, paleoconservatism, alt-lite, alt-right, neoreaction, neomonarchism, etc. These folks have just as many arguments among themselves on social, economic, and political issues as the "far right" has with the "acceptable right", e.g. Ben Shapiro, John Crowder, TPUSA, PJ Media, etc.
The things they all agree on are that totalitarianism is evil, communists are evil, the end vision of communism is illusory, the end vision of libertarianism is even more illusory, the Republican Party is not conserving anything, the neocons have degenerated into warhawks, and the libertarians have degenerated into shills for large corporations despite their supposed protestations against crony capitalism.
If by '64 you were referring to Goldwater then that water went under the bridge a loooong time ago.
Reagan didn't run them it was congress. Reagan's tax cuts RAISED federal income and revenue doubled under his 8 year watch. Don't BS me I remember all of it.
The United States prides itself on its individualism and freedom. These are great things, but can also be Achilles' heels if taken to extremes.
Regardless, we still ran deficits. Huge deficits. Was the great economy due to the tax cuts or was it due to Keynesian demand-side economics?
The tax cuts.
The bubble turned into a bust when massive hiring was replaced with massive firing when Clinton decided to cut military spending.
As Keynes might have said: In the long run we all suck off the Government teat.
You can’t project a local situation onto the entire economy, Keynesian economics does not work, ever.
Keynesian economics seems to work in the short term, and if the government can keep printing money and keep a lid on inflation by being slightly less horrible at running the economy than every other country, then the short term can be rather long.
