Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins: Christians who miss the Coming Rapture (Part 2)

At the end of the Olivet Discourse, Jesus Christ’s famous prophetic pronouncement of the signs of His return, He likens His listeners to ladies in waiting. This exclusive group being confessors of Christ that go out expectantly to meet him. Note that the parables of Jesus are only understood in light of the other related scriptures throughout the Bible since His purpose in using them is to hide His word from the unbelieving and faithless (Matthew 13:10). Understanding this parable requires us to to dig!

Oil represents the Holy Spirit (1 Samuel 16:13). Lamps representing the word of God (Psalm 119:105). The “night” in Biblical Typology represents the Great Tribulation (1 Thessalonians 5:2, Isaiah 60:2, John 9, etc.) and the spiritual state of the world prior to Jesus return (rather than a physical darkness). The tribulation is the last 3.5 to 7 years before Jesus Christ returns physically to rule and reign from Jerusalem for 1000 years.

Something happens between the time that these young ladies acquire their lamps and the time when the Bridegroom returns. He delays his coming! He is delayed to such an extent that the "night" comes and they all fall asleep. Besides physical sleep, in Biblical typology, "sleep" represents two things.

1. The death of a Christian (John 11:11, 1 Thess 4:14)
2. Inability to do the work of God because of spiritual darkness (John 9:4)

In this context, John 9:4 “…the night comes when no man can work” seems to be what Jesus is referring to. When the Great Tribulation comes, no man can do the work of God. How is this possible? Look at today’s geopolitical situation. Governments all over the world are closing churches, forbidding singing, outlawing the printing and distribution of Bibles. Christian proselytizing is outlawed when it offends homosexuals..

Notice how the parable expands our understanding of the earlier phrase “one is taken, and one is left” (Matt. 24:40–41).

This parable shows that Jesus meant “left out of the eternal Kingdom.” He never meant “left behind at the secret rapture,” as rapturists claim.

Jesus is talking about the taking of Christians into eternal bliss. Two men will be working together. One will be taken, and the other left out of the marriage feast (Matt. 24:40). Two women will be together. One will be taken into the marriage feast of the Lamb, and the other left out (Matt. 24:41).

In the parable before this, tye parable of the two servants,Jesus does not mention any hint of a seven-year tribulation or a Millennium after this coming. All that remains is either eternal bliss or eternal damnation.

Christ’s second coming will be sudden. It will be public and unmistakable. Christians will be irresistibly attracted to their Lord immediately. We cannot determine its precise timing, so we should live each day in anticipation, yet prepare for the long haul. Christians will be living and working alongside non-Christians when it occurs. Every person will receive his just reward in the end based on the charity he has shown.

Nothing even remotely suggests the private rapture that rapturists try to deduce from these verses. Nowhere is anyone “left behind.” There is no secret rapture preceding a seven-year Great Tribulation; indeed, the Great Tribulation Jesus predicts here has already come to pass. There is no mention of a separate millennial reign of Jesus as Messiah after the judgment.

Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins: Christians who miss the Coming Rapture (Part 2)
= = =

If they miss it, they aren’t Christians.

But the parable isn’t about the Rapture.

“one is taken, and one is left”
= = =

What about the tares are harvested first to be burned, then the wheat?

For the Rapture and Second Coming and all the end times to be interpreted correctly, all the scriptures have to agree.

I don’t wanna die. But I know I’m gonna die. So as a middle age guy I am making my peace with it as best I can with full faith in God and Christ, But by God I am going to be the biggest pain I can be for the sake of my family.

The parable of the Tares and wheat is told in Matthew 13:1-10.
He then explains it in Matthew 13:24

The parable is an explanation of the kingdom of heaven that Jesus inaugurated in 33 AD with the Pentecost and the starting of His bride, the church, the community of believers.

Jesus in matthew 13 keeps describing the kingdom of God ( which He said “is among you”) namely believers in Him, His Church, His bride.

This kingdom, inaugurated in 33ad The kingdom of heaven may be likened to a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25 While everyone was asleep his enemy came and sowed weeds[j] all through the wheat, and then went off. 26 When the crop grew and bore fruit, the weeds appeared as well. 27 The slaves of the householder came to him and said, ‘Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? Where have the weeds come from?’ 28 He answered, ‘An enemy has done this.’ His slaves said to him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’ 29 He replied, ‘No, if you pull up the weeds you might uproot the wheat along with them. 30 Let them grow together until harvest;[k] then at harvest time I will say to the harvesters, “First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles for burning; but gather the wheat into my barn.”’”

You are correct. There is no mention of a pre tribulation rapture in the Bible.

If you are saved in Jesus Christ, You may live to participate in the Rapture (Greek Harpazo). ;-). Otherwise if you die in Christ, your body will be resurrected before the Rapture so either way you win!

1 Thess 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Not all rapturists believe that. It is an idea introduced in the last half of the 20th century mostly by people who did not like doctrine of dispensationalism. Scofeild’s note in Matthew 24:39 says that it refers to the Second Advent, not to the rapture. The reasoning behind the argument is that the evil ones were taken away by the judgment (And knew not until the flood came and took them all away) And Noah and his family were left behind. This is not the same event that Revelation 14 speaks about where the Earth was reaped and the ones left behind were cast into the great winepress if the wrath if God

Interesting. Many rapturists on this forum tell me that they hold to two separate covenants from Jesus, one for Jews and one for gentiles. And two separate second comings and two different churches. Some even go further and said that as per the rapture philosophy Jesus isn’t the messiah for gentiles at all

What do you say? I have noticed carelessness on both sides of most issues. Heb 8:8 speaks of a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. At least the statement is half right. The rule in I Corinthians 15:46 gives insight as to what the two covenants are. Lets not overlook the precision of scripture. The creator of all things wrote a book. A masterpiece? How often do you find natural then spiritual?
