Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

It's Saturday Night, and Time for Our Sunday Thread!

In Jerusalem, near the Knesset Building, there is a strange-looking structure that looks like a huge bottle cap. It was built that way to resemble the tops of the jars in which were found the Dead Sea Scrolls. Inside the building are the actual scrolls, in climate and light-controlled cases. I got to feast my eyes upon the nearly intact Isaiah Scroll, which was penned by hand over 2000 years ago. Hebrew Scholars can read it easily, and report that it is exactly like the Hebrew Texts that are read today. And so, we can safely say that skeptics who claimed that Isaiah 53 was somehow penned AFTER the Crucifixion of Jesus, in order to fit the narrative, were immediately discredited.

Liberal scholars, however, still try to insist that there were two or even three "Isaiahs", because this Prophecy in Chapter 53 is just so poignant and accurate.

As we see from our reading, Matthew mentions this Passage, as does Luke in the 8th Chapter of the Book of Acts, and now, today, we see the Apostle Peter mentioning it as well. None of these inspired authors mention a second or third Isaiah. They just call him "Isaiah" and everybody knows who they were talking about. The Essenes put the whole Book of Isaiah on One Scroll, so they considered it one Book as well.

I suppose it is a big distraction for seminary professors to argue over which Isaiah wrote what chapters. Many books have been written on this subject, the content of which pales in comparison to the powerful, heart-rending, spine-chilling reality of the Prophecies in this Book.

I'll take the testimony of Matthew, Luke, and Peter over the pronouncements of "Professor Know-it-All" any day of the week!

As to the critics, there are 3 Isaiahs like there are 2 Ian Flemings. James Bond and Chitty, Chitty Bang! Bang! are so different they had to be different authors. </sarcasm off>
