But one thing caught my eyes. The new priest was not only wearing a cassock, but also a sash. The uniform of a priest in the diocese of Bergamo may include a cassock,( but ..there are also priests who do not wear a cassock.) A small thing to point out, but still strange. In that it seems to fall in line with an excessive show of clerical solemnity that goes beyond what is required. I don’t want to make this a problem, but I can’t be enthusiastic about this. Because in the end one could think as follows: priests who are not serious wear lay clothes, priests who are somewhat serious wear clericals, priests who are really serious wear a cassock, and priests who are super-serious wear a sash. …On the day of his First Mass I would have rather have had an affirmation of fraternity than ardor for distinction.
CLAUDIO SALVETTI HAS DIED. MORE THAN HE IS DYING.Claudio Salvetti has died, a great friend, a layman, generous and open, a great man. I have a lump in my throat that is indescribable. I immediately linked Claudio’s death with that of Don Sergio, Don Sergio Colombo, the not forgotten pastor of Redone. The two of them not by chance. had a deep friendship between them. These are deaths that stand out, significant. Going beyond this perhaps a bit too much, I have the impression that also what is dying is a certain Church, impassioned for the new, for the world, for culture, which the more it is evangelical the more it is human, the more it is itself, the more it opens itself up.There is coming forth a Church of aggressive laity who use their faith as a barrier against all openness, certain young new priests who think they are being more Church by closing themselves off in their cassocks, their lace and their Latin. The Claudios that are still here are dying. New Claudios are appearing nowhere on the horizon. Perhaps I am just being pessimistic. Perhaps.

I have never been a fan of Vatican II. It has ruined the Church.
I wonder if many of these latin & lace priests tend to be homosexual?
If you think that the incidence of homosexuality among traditionalists priests is higher than among the remainder, please explain why you think so. Beyond that, I’m at a loss how use of Latin is an indicator. I don’t see any reference to lace in the article, so frankly, FRiend, that reads just as a cheap and gratuitous baseless slam more than anything else
Food for thought.
...the Church founded on the sand of the Spirit of Vatican II is indeed dying.
One can certainly hope so.
I agree.
Marchmain, I’ll be kind and suggest you do some homework (and I won’t suggest you’re a clown or immature).
I am a Catholic deacon in a very traditional and orthodox diocese in the States. Our priests, particularly the 30-50 year-old cohort, tend very strongly to cassock, and the Extraordinary Form. Our diocese is thriving because of these men. They are holy. They are strong. And they are amazingly faithful. We’re growing exponentially because of them and our bishop.
“I have never been a fan of Vatican II. It has ruined the Church.”
Agreed. I was 7 years old when it happened. I never got over it.
It figues you would disparage traditional priests.
Do wonder if Pope St. Pius X was a homosexual?
It's not her first cheap shot. She's made many others againt orthodox prelates.
Correction:
“Do you wonder if ...
Fewer than your t-shirt and stole-only priests.
Wow, ask a simple question...
Your post was not a simple question. You weren’t looking for an answer.
It was your unfavorable opinion of traditional priests who offer the TLM, a cheap shot on your part.
You are determined to look with negativity. I don’t dislike traditional priests. I frequently go to mass with a few of these priests, choosing that over my own parish.
With the worldwide homo abuse crisis in the Church reverberating for years now, it’s legitimate to ask if these priests are more or less likely to contribute to that problem.
You can't be serious! You're the one who stated:
I wonder if many of these latin & lace priests tend to be homosexual?
That was not a question. It was your negative opinion; a cheap shot.
What does "lace" have to do with anything?
You are a seriously dishonest person. As the other commenters point out, you throw out this baseless slander, then act surprised that people get upset. I don’t have time for people like you
Apparently you do.
