Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
Lambs, Sheep, and Shepherds
.
Zephaniah 2:1-7
The land by the sea will become pastures
having wells for shepherds
and pens for flocks.
7 That land will belong
to the remnant of the people of Judah;
there they will find pasture.
In the evening they will lie down
in the houses of Ashkelon.
The Lord their God will care for them;
he will restore their fortunes.[a].
New International Version (NIV)(End of Scripture Passage)
The Minor Prophet Zephaniah speaks of Restoration after a time of calamity and captivity. He uses "safe pasture" as a metaphor for Peace and Prosperity.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
Good Evening, Prayer Warriors! Once again, it's Saturday Night, and I will be sharing the thread tonight for Tomorrow Morning. I will be playing bass tomorrow, which involves a bit more than just walking in and sitting down at the piano, so I have to get an early start.
Zephaniah's Prophecy is directed mostly to Nineveh, the Capital City of Assyria. The Assyrians were cruel and vicious enemies of Israel, and Nineveh was a world-famous "Sin City". The people of the Northern Kingdom of Israel were particularly vulnerable to this enemy, and were conquered even before the Babylonians captured Jerusalem and destroyed Solomon's Temple.
Zephaniah was another "Bad News/Good News Prophet", as he not only foretold destruction and exile, but also promised restoration, pictured here as flocks peacefully grazing in safe pastures.
When Assyria swooped down and conquered Israel, it looked like it would never get straightened out again. The Bad News looked like it was going to be permanent.
And yet, here is Zephaniah, talking about a lovely pastoral scene.
Prophets that only give Bad News are defeatist and negative. Prophets that only give Good News are flatterers and sycophants. The True Prophet gives The Whole Counsel of God, both Warnings and Promises.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America!
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Prophets that only give Bad News are defeatist and negative. Prophets that only give Good News are flatterers and sycophants. The True Prophet gives The Whole Counsel of God, both Warnings and Promises. Thank you for articulating so clearly that important truth. I'm reading through Jeremiah, and he was utterly fearless in bringing the bad news he'd been given, even in the face if serious and credible death threats. I expect the truth you articulated will stick with me henceforth.
So, I am pleased to add my Amen to what seems to be becoming a Never on Sunday thread. It is good to know that the Leader of the Prayer Warriors has her priorities straight.

I just finished Jeremiah in my devotional reading. He is the ultimate “Bad News/Good News Prophet”. The promises of Restoration when you get up to Chapter 29 and onward are so powerful that they are quoted all the time.

Lord God,
With thoughts of Jerusalem today I pray for the city and it's people. You know your plans and the ultimate outcome for the nation and for that we commit them to you .....bring them peace, your peace that passes understanding, grant them safety when threatened by other nations, and otherwise a place to escape when their foes assail them. In your great and mighty name we pray, Amen
