If you want to know the horrific penalty of sin as judged by the wrath of a Holy God, look at Christ’s passion.
I believe it had to be to emphasize the deadly nature of sin. Giving him a cyanide pill wouldn’t quite do it.
Well that’s what I get for doing html on my phone
He cannot. That is a logical fallacy.
He cannot sin, He cannot contradict His nature, He cannot be less just.
And of course, He cannot make a rock so heavy He cannot lift it.
If the answers aren’t in the scriptures, I’m open to speculations. 8)
It had to be like this so future generations would notice.
If Herod had just cut his throat, there would be no New Testement.
1. That wasn’t special. It was Roman SOP.
2. Jesus died for Hitler and Caligula (if they had repented). Somehow, lethal injection does not seem adequate to that goal.
He could do any of those things if he chose to do them.
Being righteous and holy he chooses not to do them.
(After all ... who could stop him?) lol
Thx. I’m going to think and pray on it overnight...and see what comes up.:-)
Well this should be an interesting thread.
It could be but I have another God question that could really get interesting!
That question deals more in the science of God and the universe!
And God cannot lie.
Honestly, considering Jesus took on Himself the sin of the entire world for all time, I’m staggered that God considered what Jesus went through to be enough to pay for all that evil.
When I see the evil that is running rampant through our world just these days in this country, it’s breathtaking.
And I know far worse evil has been perpetrated by human beings against others than the little we are seeing.
How the passion of Jesus was enough to cover all that sin is beyond me.
No, God can never act contrary to His nature
He is always just, and never unjust.
Always righteous. He cannot sin.
I like it how skeptics posit questions like yours.
Let’s see it?
I don’t believe that there is a real answer?
It all goes back to the “God can do anything” meme!
For instance, some have said that it was done so future generations would remember!?
Heck, God could accomplish that without all of the fuss! 8-(
Suffering is the unit by which we can measure love.
That will be another thread for tomorrow.
It is much more involved and thought provoking.
(And a lot more fun!)
I’m not really a skeptic, I just question everything which I don’t understand.
