If we are not enemies, then we must be friends, at least potentially? Trump supporters are called white supremacists, Nazis, traitors, seditionists. They get fired from their jobs and run out of business. As the author acknowledges, conservatives are being silenced and stripped of freedoms, and this has been going on for some time. This comes not just from people in positions of power, but from neighbors and family members. The other side is convinced that this is all good and necessary.

With friends like that, who needs enemies?

Enemy is a strong word. Al-Qaeda is our enemy, as was the Soviet Union and (at inception) England. I consider the rabid left to be like Cuba, bordering on NK.

I read lots of research that the rabid left that really haaaaates us (white, urban, affluent, educated, woke) is about 10-20% of Dems and Dem leaners. But this group of mouth-breathers is all over the media, entertainment, and big tech. Thus, they punch above their weight in getting camera time.

The remains Dems are roughly evenly split across three other groups...

I can probably have some of these non-rabid folks over for a barbecue. If we focus on things like the importance of the family, the value of hard work, how we should care more about domestic tranquility vs being the world's policeman, how the same big media that muzzles conservatives can just as easily muzzle minorities when they fall out of favor, and how God isn't a four-letter word, MAYBE we can agree to disagree on the environment but walk away as we began, in peace. That would be a start.
