Today Satan is attempting to get the church off its message of the centrality of Jesus Christ. Satan desires nothing more than to turn God’s people off their message and one way he does this is by riling up Christians over a political issue until it consumes them. When this happens, the issue soon becomes all one can talk about and Jesus is no longer the consuming concern.
There are issues that God’s people must care about, but not to the extreme that the heart is opened up to bitterness and unchristlike activity. We must be able to pray without a disturbed spirit. Jesus insists that we allow nothing to rob us of his peace. Indeed, he commands that we enter and stay in his rest: “God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it” (Hebrews 4:1, NLT).
This is not a political statement. Rather, it is a warning to Christians not to get entangled in the growing bitterness of today’s politics. The testimony of Jesus is that we can be in this world yet not of it. This means we don’t take part in its spirit or pull. The fact is, this is how we become a testimony of hope in a world without any. When some anxious person asks us, we can answer in faith and confidence, “Jesus is my hope and peace.”
Jesus must remain central in our hearts, minds and activities, not policies or politics. Though those things are important, they can rob us of our central concern, the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our confidence as Christians is that we know all nations will come under the authority of our Lord Jesus.
All around us the world is breaking down. But we see Jesus! We see him in all our present trials. We see him standing with us in our pain, our suffering, our crises, all things.
Most of all, we see Jesus getting all things ready for his coming. Hallelujah!
Satan is very good at making saints look like demons and demons look like saints. Most of the world is fooled by this.
The biggest problem, which is Satan’s most effective tool for turning people away from Christ, is to have those who commit atrocities to then name the name of Christ, saying they were doing it for god.
Westboro Baptist is a fine example of this. There are others who are not so unhinged who also do a very effective job.
I think the best course of action is to pray for others that God would remove the blindness from their eyes and He would cause them to not believe the lies of the enemy.
Perhaps. We differ a bit in that I think Satan’s most effective tool is making victims look like villains. There are too many times in history when victim hood has been used as the excuse for doing what could normally not be done: becoming slaughterous monsters. The Nazis blamed the Jews for all their ills. The Communists blamed the Kulaks. But who were the real victims?
Let me back up on that a bit, however. The most evil people always justify themselves as the good guys, doing a lesser evil to advance a greater good.
I personally look very forward to the time when He Rules with an IRON FIST dealing with libs and humanists like the clowns that they are.
I’m also one of the few who believe that the end of the Millennium will have even more rebellious evil people than the Tribulation period in total.
Westboro Baptist is a fake church that is deliberately designed to turn people away from Christ by claiming to be Christian. That is why they are always the most convenient “church” that the left uses because it best suits their “justifications” against “Christianity.” The website is “God hates fags”, not a normal title like westborobaptist.com or something. No, nothing like that. They obsess about hating people, and they use the name of Christ to do it. I don’t know if anyone ever challenges them on their fake “theology”, but they are satanic in nature, as they are referenced by the ones most easily deceived into left wing ideology and their anti-Christian stances.
We see a lot of that today and I agree it is very effective.
It’s staggering to think that people who live in a virtual paradise ruled with perfect justice, would rebel like that, but they certainly will and by all indications in Scripture, it’s a massive number of people.
I’m looking forward to the day when I don’t sin any more.
I don’t want to and for me it’s not going to be a matter of being forced to obey.
About twenty five years ago a young woman in our church stated that when she saw Jesus she was going to climb up in His lap. I was shocked because this is not how I think of God. I believe our churches have presented Jesus as the Lamb of God to the point of ignoring the Lion of God.
Tho Jesus took the form of man He was always God and today is God the Son. My point is the church has been off point for many years by making the love of God His only attribute. When judgement comes it will still be from a loving God just not the god many believe in.
John was the disciple Jesus loved, and yet when John saw Him in his vision on Patmos in the first chapter of Revelation, he was stunned.
Even someone so intimately in fellowship with Him was overawed by the revelation of who Jesus truly is.
The end of the Millennium will be a vastly vexing time like what we have now.
To think that those billions will rise up and attack God Himself at that point is unreal. “Like sea on the sand” - I’d say that’s billions.
It’s more staggering that they even think they can win.
Devil’s dementia makes beings and people do insane things.
