Both Chalke and Ozanne have criticised churches for teaching LGBT people that their desires “are ‘sinful’”.

I’ve heard it said that it isn’t the attraction that is sinful, but the action.

We are all attracted to sin in one form or another. Some of us would, left to our own devices, speed, steal, cheat on our taxes, cheat on our spouses, lie, lust, hate - the list goes on and on. But we have God’s morality etched into our consciences; that alone keeps us from going off the deep end of selfish behaviors of many kinds.

And none of us are perfect. Even the Apostle Paul struggled with sin, and elsewhere, acknowledges that he fails to do right even when he knows it, and does wrong even when he knows it’s wrong.

God knows that we can’t be perfect all the time, so He provided a solution to our sin problem that doesn’t rely on our efforts. God came to earth as a man, lived a sinless life, allowed himself to be killed to pay the penalty for our sins. In rising from the dead, He showed that sin has been conquered once and for all, and all we need do is to acknowledge that truth and put Him first in our lives. (I’ve stated that badly, I know, but...)

I've heard it said that it isn't the attraction that is sinful, but the action.

That is sort of true and sort of not true.

People take that as that they can think about it and have fantasies and as long as they don't actually do it they are ok.

But thought is the father of action.

That is why Jesus taught about lusting in your heart.

If you harbor and cuddle your lust one day it will break free.

It is how humans work.
