Christian: Without Prayer, Did you Get What you Want?

Christian: in your heart of hearts, without prayer, did you really get what you wanted?

Did you get a wife without prayer, a home, a child, a job? Yes, many of us forget to pray even over these things. And what does it leave us but emptiness and sometimes heartache.

For when we forget to pray, we miss out on a world of relationship. We miss seeing His glory in the midst of it. We miss seeing His unique answers (usually surprising). We miss some of why He gave us these things in the first place. And most of all, we miss the fullness of His presence and Love.

Does He love us any less? I don't think so. For He says "I have loved you with an everlasting love" and "The Lord's lovingkindness endures forever". No I think, that His love does not change, but that we need to.

Forgetting to pray, especially for the big things, could show a hole in our heart for Him. And when one sees that the answer is easy:

"Lord, Teach is to Pray"...

For God wants us to relate to Him in all things. For He says "Cast all your cares upon Him because He careth for you". Is there anything that care about that you should not bring to His loving arms?

Pray as if it is all up to God; Work as if it is all up to you. Trust in the LORD. And never, ever give up.

You can’t always get what you want.

But if you try sometimes

You just might find

You get what you need.

Wrong question.

Christians should not pray for what we want--we should pray that His will be done in all situations.

Yep, it’s all in the prayer that Jesus taught.

Thanks/appreciation to God, self-reflection, seeking/doing God’s will, and for strength against temptation.

God already knows what we want/desire and “moves in mysterious ways” in relation to that. You can pray in earnest, sometimes you get what you want, sometimes you don’t, only God knows if what you got came from Him. God should not be looked at like a genie, again prayer subjects are taught in the ‘Our Father’.

I had responsibility for my mother's care during the last 3 years of her life. They were difficult years for me as I was under intense emotional, physical and financial stress. I prayed for so many things to get through those years which I feared would break me.

I received answers to all my prayers and more.

It was a tremendous personal lesson in faith and throwing oneself completely on God's mercy.

Hugs and Blessings to you for your love and care for your mother.
It is certainly when caring for others we begin to understand the Love of God for us.

A smart fellow once said of praying pleas: "Sometimes God says no."

One of my prayers is: "God, I don't know where You're going with this, but please take me with You."

True. Okay to pray for things but still submit to His will.

Like our children - we don’t mind that they want stuff that makes them happy, but still our jobs as parents to play ‘Father Knows Best.’

“We miss seeing His unique answers (usually surprising).”

Whenever I’ve tried to tell God through prayer how He should be doing his job, He NEVER listens to the ‘helpful suggestion’ but ALWAYS comes up with a solution that I never even considered.

Thank God for that. I’m clearly too incapable of managing my affairs to be left to my own evices.

A great book on prayer (many say this is the Best Book on prayer, outside of God’s Word)

Tells how prayer changed the course of World War 2.

Thank God He does and will answer all prayer that is actually in the name of Jesus, meaning consistent with His character and specific and in true faith. However, God shows grace to all souls can gives to all many of their desire, even as Paul preached to the "barbarians" (who were more religious than many in America),

Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness. (Acts 14:17)

For as the Lord stated:

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. (Matthew 5:45)

However, it is surrendered consecrated believers who find God to be "our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble," (Psalms 46:1) and who will lead them in His perfect will with its surpassing blessings (amid trials) if they follow their Lord, and thus delivering them from the regretful consequences of wrong choices, which are a result of not praying and hearing and obeying. I know of both.
