Pastor John Piper warns Trump's 'deadly' behavior will lead to 'destruction' in blistering post

John Piper has issued a blistering condemnation of President Donald Trump, warning Christian voters that the president's “deadly behavior” will lead the U.S. to “destruction of more kinds than we can imagine.”

On Thursday, the influential pastor and writer published what he referred to as a “long-overdue” blog post in which he pondered the implications of the 2020 election.

Piper, who pastored Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis for almost 33 years, reminded Christians that "it is not a small thing to treat lightly a pattern of public behaviors that lead to death."

He pointed out that all of these sins are mentioned in the Bible and are “deadly” enough to destroy people and entire nations.

“I think it is a drastic mistake to think that the deadly influences of a leader come only through his policies and not also through his person,” he wrote. “This is true not only because flagrant boastfulness, vulgarity, immorality, and factiousness are self-incriminating, but also because they are nation-corrupting. They move out from centers of influence to infect whole cultures.”

“The last five years bear vivid witness to this infection at almost every level of society.”

Piper questioned why some Christians seem to be sure they are “saving human lives and freedoms” by ignoring the destructive effects of a “self-absorbed, self-exalting” leader.

I’ve seen an imam lecturing in a church. I stuck around that day only because I was on the deacon roster, but I stayed the hell away from and out of earshot of the invading bastard. I left that congregation in time.

Apparently Mr. Piper skipped ALL of the chapters about the patriarchs/kings/prophets/judges, who make Trump look like a Saint by comparison. And he doesn’t know how to translate John the Baptist, who used extremely um...SALTY language?! (Brood of Vipers HELLO?!)

“John Piper’s estimated net worth is $17M.”

Never been a big fan of the celebrity preacher-professional Christian types.
If you give money, give it to a local church for local needs (or missionary support elsewhere).

Protest against Piper’s Hedonism

Celebrity American Pastor John Piper addressed thousands of men at the London Men’s Convention held in Central Hall, Westminster on 2 June 2018. Piper had been invited to speak at the London Men’s Convention by Richard Coekin, Director of Co-Mission. The presence of John Piper in London was a cause for concern to many Christians. Piper’s preaching of “Christian hedonism” has been accompanied by a rapid rise in worldliness among churchgoers. As an expression of this concern, a protest was held outside Central Hall in by Dr ES Williams, Enoch Burke and others from the UK and Ireland.

Why is it so hard for people to understand that we are 2 weeks from a GENERAL election. For the most part we are choosing between the Republican nominee and the Democratic nominee. The Primary elections are about the person, the General elections are about the party. I’m sure there are exceptions.

At least he is saying that neither candidate deserve his vote. In a democracy you are not required to vote, you are free to vote for none of these.

Piper has one famous sermon where he makes fun of retired people who collect seashells. I’ve never understood why it is so great. It seemed to me to a little arrogant.

Remind me to burn all my John Piper books.

They are on kindle, so the fire is already burning.

never heard of the guy
but he sounds like just another cranky nut in the employ of the DNC (making all sorts of false allegations and offering absolutely zero proof of any of them, of course because there is none)

perhaps somebody should advise this guy just how serious a sin he commits by attempting to defame somebody’s reputation

I’ve always had a strange feeling about John Piper. Now I know. He’s just another village idiot.

Maybe he should spend more time collecting seashells and less time proving he’s a fool.

Piper is very preachy in this article and makes a Moral Equivalence Between infanticide and “being rude”. Additionally, Piper makes the claim that Trump is unrepentant adulterer. I am glad this false Utilitarian teacher is showing his true colors.

Never heard of the guy but suspect someone has dirt on him and is making him jump at their command. Watch enough episodes of ‘American Greed’ and one can see how the false preacher bit works.

“Piper has one famous sermon where he makes fun of retired people who collect seashells.”

He’s mad they don’t give their retirement funds to his “ministry”. Gotta completely shear the flock, y’know.

Wow. A famous, influential pastor for 33 years in Minneapolis. Looks like he wasn’t nearly “influential” enough, seeing what a hell hole that place has become.

Like I tell my Baptist preacher sons-in-law: “Beware the ‘conservative,’ ‘pro-life’ Woke preacher.” Such are neither conservative nor pro-life. I truly doubt whether they are really Christian either.

Piper is a poser, just a better poser than most.
