Why ignore the other 11 tribes? You NEED to study Genesis 49.. Jacob names each son and foretells what would befall then in the last days..

Not the point of the article. I am asking Rabbis why I should listen to their critique of Christianity, if they can’t even tell me why Judah has been exiled for two thousand years. What did they do to bring this on themselves?

Interesting. However Christians have been at least as much of a scourge to each other as they have been to the Jews. The history of this world is one of continual conflict with brief periods of what can be charitably be called peace. Nothing is to be gained from Jews and Christians digging up old wounds. Yet it continues.

Hang together or hang separately.

This is not the appropriate forum to ask this type of question. If you are truly interested why don’t you call on some rabbis and ask them.

The believers of the 11 Tribes fled the northern Kingdom (Israel) and were incorporated into Jerusalem and Judah during the time of Hezekiah. The unbelievers were scattered throughout Assyria/Babylon/Persia never to be heard from...

The Religion forum of Freerepublic is the perfect place for this discussion. Additionally, There are both Christians and neo-Pharisees on this forum.

Pastor Bill wasn’t referring to conflict between the Jews & Christians. In other words, what did the Jews do to bring the curses written by Moses in the Torah upon this people who God calls His own, and for that matter, still does? It’s not a rhetorical question. Moses spelled out the terms of the covenant for “staying in the land”. The Abrahamic covenant gave then the land forever, but Moses brought the people together and read the Covenant that is known as the Mosaic Covent to the whole assembly. They agreed to worship only God and have no other gods before Him. He gave them the law at that time. They were also to give the land a Sabbath rest, which they never did, nor did they keep His law. So He sent them to Babylon, but they continued with their sin, refusal to repent, and set up their own laws when they returned to the land after Babylon. God told them he’d send them into exile worldwide and there they’d suffer, although He would not reject them, and one day He’d bring them back...as they are now, in unbelief. And yet they have an exile still to come that will break them of their unbelief.

Pastor, you’re Hebrew-wording us to death ;) Baruch Hashem! I see your mind is taking it all in. :)

I want to expand on how second-rate it is to learn the Hebrew Bible in English. We just read Genesis 1:1 in synagogues world-wide, every observant Jew (and even the non-observant who go with the motions anyway but sadly do not yet believe in the divinity of the Torah) for the 3,332nd time since Sinai— as I posted before, Jews count. We just read In the beginning G-d created... That English is a modernization of the old English, translated from Latin, and from Greek.

However you all to a man and woman read the first word wrong.

In Hebrew it is BiRaYSHiT bara Elokim et ha shamayim v’et haaretz. But the very first word is not “In the beginning” it is “In the beginning OF” The T consonant at the end demands a noun comes next. Instead we get “bara” [3rd person past tense ‘created’]

In the beginning OF [OF WHAT!] G-d created the heaven and the earth.

Without even the explanation, what I want to bring out is you don’t even know there is a problem. There are thousands of such “mistakes” of course. They’d all have a squiggly red, blue, or green line for a spelling, context, or grammatical suggestion. Does G-d not speak the Holy Tongue good? (that’s a joke...”well” is what I meant.)???

No, these are the clues that G-d inserted into the Torah and we know them because A) We understand Hebrew, and B) they were explained by Moses and the sages (who sit in Moses’ seat) and they have oceans and oceans of depth in explanation— and you don’t even know there is a question.

There are other points of this recent post of yours that deserve answers (though you are looking for JESUS! as the answer to all) but as I said, you don’t even know the questions.

I’ll try to get to more, but I wanted everyone to see the tradition for itself. Here is a boy of 6 learning to read the Holy Tongue. He’ll eventually understand what he’s reading (English is his mother language) but when he understands Hebrew grammar in 4 years, he will have the question on BiRaYSHiT and he will be taught the same answers given for 3,332.

Ezekiel 46:1
Thus said the Sovereign; The gate of the inner court that looks toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened.

When do children learn this?

1. Day of New Moon- Gate Open
2. 1st work Day- Gate shut
3. 2nd work Day- Gate shut
4. 3rd work Day- Gate shut
5. 4th work Day- Gate shut
6. 5th work Day- Gate shut
7. 6th work Day- Gate shut
8. 7th Day Sabbath- Gate Open

It would seem Ezekiel was taught to count differently from the Sovereign than how people count today.

Who knew counting could be a stumbling block over those proud that they count..

1+6+1.
The Sovereign’s count.

Which if expanded out another ‘week’, makes Day 14th the 6th work day.
Go figure, Passover is the Day the Lamb finished His Work. And according to the Sovereign, it’s His 6th and final work day.

According to Islam,Judaism and Christianity, Rome’s Friday is the Sovereign’s 6th Day.

According to Ezekiel and Torah,Passver is.

I wonder if a boy of 6, in any language, could see the discrepancy

The leaders in religion apparently haven’t gotten that far in their studies..
Or inherited lies from the start of their studies.

You’re the weird calendar guy, right?

And being Christian (I think you are— which sect/denomination?) you believe the third temple is spiritual. So we disagree so radically....

And on requirement of blood.... and on this verse having ANYTHING to do with Passover and on and on.

Let’s be precise - the “Jews” split into

1. the Jesus-movement Jews who became known as Christians

2. the Pharisee Jews who took on the sole title of “Jews”.

The Jesus-movement Jews triumphed over the gentiles by 378 AD and the mountain that is the Jesus-movement has covered the whole earth

11 other tribes?

In the southern Kingdom you had Judah + Benjamin + Simeon + quite a few Levi

So the northern Kingdom was 7 tribes

Now genetically, these guys

Samaritan men carry the so-called Cohen gene, linking them to ancient Israelites.

Link to white paper - Genetics and the History of the Samaritans: Y-Chromosomal Microsatellites and Genetic AfÀnity between Samaritans and Cohanim

Gen 49:6 points out that Levi and Simeon were scattered in Israel, Juda is a lions whelp and 49:10 The sceptre shall not be taken away from Juda, nor a ruler from his thigh, till he come that is to be sent, and he shall be the expectation of nations

Zebulun and Issacher are sea shore and border land - merged with the Phoenicians and Syrians to become modern day lebanese and Syrians

The Assyrian methodology that they employed for all other conquered peoples was to take away the elite + the craftsmen + the scholars. The common people they didn't care too much about. They then transported them to the other end of their empire - and in this case to Mesopotamia.

The ones who remained either merged with the Judaeans as you say, or with other locals becoming the Samaritans

The ones who went either later merged with the Judeans or merged with the locals becoming the modern day Iraqis, Syrians, Iranians

Phinneous "I want to expand on how second-rate it is to learn the Hebrew Bible in English" --> while I agree with you about the deficiencies of English, just saying this is second-rate and one must only know Hebrew is similar to Muslims claiming one must only know Quranic Arabic to understand the Quran.

No, I refer you to Robert Alter's "The five books of Moses" - which starts off Genesis 1 as

When god began to create heaven and earth, and the earth then, was welter and waste and darkness over the deep and God's breath/spirit/wind hovering over the waters, God said, "Let there be light"
Let's look at some contrasts

Genesis
English: Douay-Rheims English: New American Standard Bible English: King James Version Hebrew OT: WLC (Consonants & Vowels)
1 In the beginning God created heaven, and earth. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. בְּרֵאשִׁית בָּרָא אֱלֹהִים אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ׃ .1
2 And the earth was void and empty, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the spirit of God moved over the waters. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said: Be light made. And light was made. Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים יְהִי אֹור וַיְהִי־אֹור׃ .3

"Rome’s Friday "

What are you smoking? It must be good

Firstly - the division of the week into 7 days is Sumerian and thereby taken by the Egyptians, Canaanites and the Israelites. 7 not 8

Secondly, the Romans were at the end of a long line of civilizations and took their calendars from the Greeks

Thirdly, "Friday" is the English Germanic term for the 6th day - most other countries call it piątek or some other name
