Are you sure it’s salt? Is the salt intrinsic to the meat? Or is it added in the preparation? Is there such a thing as low-sodium Rattlesnake Tartar? :-)

I had it sixty years ago, but my memory is that it was unadorned and salty. They do live in the very arid desert, which differs somewhat from MA and FL. Have you ever visited our western deserts?

Trying to hold my breath for 8 days...as for the trio, my sympathy goes to Uriah..not nice of David!

I have, however, been to the Eastern Deserts, namely the Judean Wilderness and the Negev. I like the dry heat! :-)

Sounds like a plan! Now I need to find someone to go with me. Hopefully someone who rides a Harley, likes sleeping under the stars, believes in the 2A, can fix things, and doesn’t mind listening to me talk! LOL!

God agrees with you. By the way, while the text clearly blames David, it is silent not only on Bathsheba’s acquiescence but also on her exhibitionism (well, lack of modesty). That silence surely doesn’t mean she is blameless; rather, David is the story’s focus.

Well, if you're on your bike, be careful of the summer months. Dry hear notwithstanding, 120°+ can make you salty.

In defense of Bathsheba, when summoned to the palace, could she have refused a King?

Sure. Cite the seventh commandment and then suffer the consequences.

I was working on Tamar’s refusal when I paused and saw your post. Same thing. Position and rank are irrelevant.

Nothing to be ashamed of. See! I made an error;

Nah, I was sloppy careless. Should have taken the time to check, as I usually do. Your correction will serve as a useful goad. Thanks.

I'm familiar with the Romance languages, but German is not something I've looked into. All the more reason for caution and circumspection.

I am startled by the number of depictions of Doeg killing the priests. I thought that was a fairly obscure part of scripture. What do I know?

Some of the stained glass windows exceed paintings in beauty and detail.

Thank you for providing these pictures!

“it is silent not only on Bathsheba’s acquiescence but also on her exhibitionism (well, lack of modesty).”

Bathing on a rooftop was actually modest. There weren’t mainly buildings higher and surely the king wouldn’t be a peeping Tom.

I walked around David’s palace in the southern tip of Jerusalem. From the palace, the hill of Zion went down to a steep cliff. The richer you were, the higher you lived in the city. (Think of Minas Tirith). As the wife of one of David’s 30 mighty men, Bathsheba and Uriah would have lived just below David.

Behind David’s palace, the hill went up to the Temple Mount.

I found the quality of some of the windows to be as high as any I’ve seen. I’m promising you the most amazing in a week, in post #113: David, Bathsheba and Uriah all in one. It actually resides in a church, which is stunning.
