This Bishop is now waiting by the mailbox for a letter from Pope Francis reassigning him to a job as a parish priest in Nigeria with the mission of preaching to Boko Haram.

The Pope can't really remove a diocesan bishop absent some pretty substantial dereliction of duty. This has both good and bad aspects.

(This is different from removing someone from an office in the Vatican. He can do *that* at the drop of a hat.)
