I was an altar boy with a good buddy at 6 & 7 am services for 3 years.
Nothing like this went on. I was never molested nor invited to a party like this. After services we’d go down to the paper where we’d eat donuts, drink coffee and read the teletype news - right as it typed out.
Later we’d break into the our Catholic School (just a vent into the gym) to get warm.
Never mentioned that in confession - tell him where the vent was? Am I going to hell?

The US Church is shrinking at a rapid pace; four of NY’s eight dioceses have already declared bankruptcy, and here in NJ the first of our five just did so. It is not a sustainable operating model; the perverts recruited over the past few decades will continue to drain Church coffers, and there are few replacement parishioners.

This story reminded me of the one Catholic girl I dated as a yoot.
Back in that day, good Southern Baptist that I was, I knew such a thing as Catholics existed, but was sure it was a New York/Boston thing. Never imagined such a group existed in Virginia.
