Not according to the Communist Pope.
Agree and additional idea to consider. Americas truth does not reside in the democratic party.
So,if the KKK declares themselves democrats ,the liberal Catholics are okay with catholics voting in lockstep with the KKK
It is good to see a Fr. more afraid of the Lord than Twitter, the USSBC or the Vatican !
Amazing video. Thanks for posting.
We need more like him standing up for the church and the faithful.....
I very much agree. We had a priest along he lines of Fr. Altman. Our diocese ran him out. It was shameful to see how the leadership turned so spiteful.
Some dioceses the liberals run it and no true catholic faith gets through..If it does, they are run off, whether priests or the faithful.....In Oregon, a liberal priest and the liberal hippies ran the church,he retired and the church sent in a conservative nigerian priest...ALL HE** broke loose......
We Catholics get the pope we deserve. Allowing birth control is the primary problem. The current sick culture follows that problem. Catholics do not want to admit that. Too inconvenient.
Sadly (to me, a lifelong and practicing Catholic), his bishop is denouncing him for saying so from the pulpit. There is more outrage against clergy and other prominent Catholics for defending the faith, than there is against clergy (for example, Fr. James Martin) preaching heresy.
It doesn’t shake my faith, as my faith is in Christ — not His representatives on Earth. The Catholic Church needs strong defenders of the faith, not limp reeds that bend in any direction the temporal winds blow.
For several years, I was privileged to attend a church where the visiting priest, Father Seth, was from Ghana. It was a delight. The procession led by the thurifer, acolytes with lighted candles escorting the Bible, the traditional liturgy. (And by the way, we had girl acolytes as well as boys; African Christianity recognises the unique role of women and venerates the Blessed Virgin).
And those gestures of faith that mean so much. Father Seth would kneel before the altar rail, beat his breast, and recite three times the ‘Domine, non sum dignus’. During the Consecration, the choir would sing Mozart’s ‘Ave verum corpus’, my own son leading. The recession would be equally formal, and Father Seth would greet us all individually as we left. His homilies were short, but always grounded in Scripture, and God centred, not man centred.
As I’m sure some of you remember, many of the Fathers of the Church were African. The tradition continues, in spite of persecution, war, and socialist political leaders. The Church in Europe and North America was largely destroyed by Vatican II, and in South America by “liberation theology”. If the Magisterium is to be restored, I believe the seed will be planted in Africa.
A democrat Christian = an oxymoron in any denomination.
I don’t agree with the policies of the democrats, but...
To say salvation is grace + not belonging to the democratic party is a heretical view.
There are two core doctrines of the Christian faith. Who God is and what is His plan of salvation for us. You can be grossly wrong on a lot of things but if you get those two right and put your faith in Jesus for the redemption of your sins, then you are saved.
To say someone can’t be Christian because their political views don’t line up is just wrong.
Your comment: “To say someone cant be Christian because their political views dont line up is just wrong.”
Jesus teaches that our salvation is based on Baptism (acceptance of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit) and Knowing, Loving and Serving Him by keeping His commandments.
The fifth commandment is “Thou shall not Kill” which includes the killing of innocent babies by abortion. And their other many other examples of rejection of God’s Truth.
One may claim to be a Christian, but the obstinate post-baptismal denial of some truth which must be believed with divine and catholic faith is heresy.CCC2089 Thus a denial of faith which merits eternal punishment in Hell and exclusion from the Kingdom of God.
It is my hope that our next Pope is from Nigeria. We need someone from a place where claiming to be Catholic can cost you your life. A true believer that has lived the life of the early apostles and not a politician.
My next Rosary will include this hope/request.
Would you settle for a Guinean (Cardinal Sarah)?
Adding to Fr. Altman’s opinion. You cannot be a CHRISTIAN of ANY denomination and be a Democrat. Period.
Happily.
