What I mean is I want to continue to look at a pope as someone special, a man who was chosen by the Holy Spirit to lead His Church, and I am inclined to view him as spiritually superior to me. This thinking does not apply to imPopester Bergoglio, who was selected by men who were not listening to the Holy Spirit.

I recommend you look towards the last pope declared a saint by a fellow traditional catholic pope prior to VC II, Pope Saint Pius X.

Every single pope who has died since VC II, with the exception of JP I, who only reigned for 33 days before his suspicious death, are now "saints".
