To some who trusted in their own righteousness and viewed others with contempt, He also told this parable: Two men went up to the temple to pray. One was a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed,a God, I thank You that I am not like the other menswindlers, evildoers, adulterersor even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and pay tithes of all that I acquire.
But the tax collector stood at a distance, unwilling even to lift up his eyes to heaven. Instead, he beat his breast and said, God, have mercy on me, a sinner!
I tell you, this man, rather than the Pharisee, went home justified. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.
Yeah well me and the tax collector have something in common.
I don’t look up either, like a child that has been bad and disappointed his parents and doesn’t want to look them in the eye out of embarrassment.
I will just keep praying and asking forgiveness.
And if I deserve it, to help with the feelings of guilt.
Maybe they are there for a reason.
I dunno.
I am not often on religious threads at all. I am not well versed and I figure most of the people on those threads are on the right track and i’m not lol! So I stay away.
Thanks for passing that parable on to me.
Which is why Luke 18:9-14 has been on my FR page for some time now.
