Do you happen to know where Barron said that about the Virgin Birth? I know that he and McBrien argued about Eucharistic Adoration, but I hadn't heard that. He's also entertained some of von Balthasar's heretical ideas about the possibility of Hell being empty, etc.

"He's also entertained some of von Balthasar's heretical ideas about the possibility of Hell being empty, etc."

Bishop Barron did NOT say hell was empty - He said we need to look at it theologically that we can have a "reasonable hope" that all are saved- but denies Universalism and the certainty (Origen) that all are or will be saved... I need to mention, stress, that what Bp. Barron say IS NO DIFFERENT than what the Catholic Catechism says... and even what pope Benedict XVI has said about hell existing, but to what level is it occupied.... WATCH THE OFFENDING DISCUSSION AGAIN:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmsa0sg4Od4

Its a very good analysis of Catholic doctrinal thought -and contras from very smart guys... If some can't understand what he is saying here...and are more interested in calumny, that's their deal.. But keep in mind... THIS is what the Catechism of the Church actually says:

#1821
In every circumstance, each one of us should hope, with the grace of God, to persevere ‘to the end’ and to obtain the joy of heaven, as God’s eternal reward for the good works accomplished with the grace of Christ. In hope, the Church prays for ‘all men to be saved.’ She longs to be united with Christ, her Bridegroom, in the glory of heaven.

Those who deny or twist this - to divide - for their own self interest are committing a sin against the Church and the Holy Spirit that guides it...
