Father Joesph Illo, pastor of Star of the Sea in San Francisco, gave a 14-minute homily of Sunday, July 12.
A 15-second excerpt:
Our church leaders are hoping that when the church restrictions are lifted that people will all come back to Mass. I dont see it , Before Covid, 75 percent of Catholics did not come to Mass every Sunday on a regular basis. How many of the 25 percent attending will return? I think well be down to 5-10 percent of card-carrying Catholics.
Ping
Our traditional Church in Phoenix has pen for a while, and we still have to take reservations, so the priests added Masses to make sure everyone can come. The effort put in by the bishops and priests make a difference.
Ah, you again. This is idiot scaremongering - we will all be back when the disease is beaten.
Card-carrying Catholics? what does that mean? If someone does not go to mass (”75%”) are they card-carrying? Is anyone baptized in the Church catholic, or those who self-identify, or what?
Don’t count on that; there’s a lot of people getting very comfortable watching the Mass broadcast/online in their jammies/slippies with a cup of coffee.
Nah. Its back to daily Mass when we have a vaccine.
Exactly, which will be never.
Thanks for confirming the priest's prediction.
You have no idea.
Worse, your pose as more Catholic than the rest of us is endangering your soul.
So says the “scare-monger” who appears to not have been to Mass since March and won’t go back until some “bug” is “beaten”.
If parishioners were given the opportunity to attend a real Roman Catholic Latin Tridentine Mass instead of that stupid Protestant-inspired Novus Ordo, I believe they would return to regular Sunday worship in droves!
I'm not the pompous one, thumping his chest and promising that it's back to daily mass once there's a vaccine.
Card-carrying Catholics? what does that mean? If someone does not go to mass (75%) are they card-carrying? Is anyone baptized in the Church catholic, or those who self-identify, or what?
...................................
Allow me the honor of giving you the straight scoop. The so-called Traditionalists who worship at Tridentine (Latin) Masses are actually still Catholics. All others who consider themselves Catholics are mistaken. That’s because the parish churches they are members of have ceased to be Catholic since they no longer teach or preach the Catholic faith!
When’s the last time a safe and effective vaccine was developed for ANY strain of coronavirus?
To the best of my knowledge the answer to that question is “Never”.
Pride.
Remember what our Lord said about that.
You have absolutely no clue what I endured in my life and have always continued my faith. You need to stop attacking others.
From your post #9:
Worse, your pose as more Catholic than the rest of us is endangering your soul.
Just trying as a brother Catholic, to get you to realize your errors. Many heresies stemmed from an attitude that you and those who share your opinions are the only correct way.
Repent.
Mote and beam, chainmail.
Think about that before you attack others.
There is no reliable flu vaccine.
When you say traditional, do you mean they have a Latin Mass? What parish is it?
