The Maryland bishops released a pastoral letter Monday decrying the sin of racism and confessing their own participation in it.

The bishops also confess to having themselves failed to follow the gospel, which now impels them to lead the charge in eradicating unjust discrimination.
With regret and humility, we must recognize that as Catholic leaders and as an institution we have, at times, not followed the Gospel to which we profess and have been too slow in correcting our shortcomings, they state. For this reason, it is incumbent upon us to place ourselves at the forefront of efforts to remove the inequalities and discrimination that are still present in Maryland and our nation today.

Did he say that to his black parishioners?
On a hopeful note, the bishops seem to renounce misguided Affirmative Action programs and quota systems that penalize or benefit individuals based on race.
The author forgot the sarc tag
Original sin is in ALL of us, not just white people or Americans.
Their action to correct their own non-specified sins will undoubtedly involve spending local parishioners money on salaries for diversity board members and more template PR statements.
And of course keep the useless 5-star-hotel surf-and-turf meals USCCB meetings going!
Pretty soon racism will become the eighth deadly sin.
Lot of auxiliary Bishops, most Francis appointees. Some are really old ones nearing or at retirement age.
Yes, current Catholic leadership is guilty of racism, all right: they blame everything on whites and Jews, pretend to care about black while promoting liberal policies that condescend to them, pander to Hispanics while promoting totalitarian regimes in Latin America, sell Chinese out to Communists. . .
I guess the next step is for them to prostrate themselves in the street for BLM.
Bishop Mark J. Seitz of the Diocese of El Paso, Texas, kneels at El Paso's Memorial Park holding a Black Lives Matter sign June 1, 2020.
What do they say to the under age boys they forced themselves upon?
Can they quote any verses from the Bible in support of their statement?
Likewise, the Archdiocese of Wilmington, DE covers a portion of Maryland.
As far as this crazy racism mea maxima culpa, where is all the news about the black retired police chief who was murdered while trying to defend his friend's liquor store, from protesters anarchist looters?
A black kills a black - no protesters, no looting.
A black kills a white - no racism, no protesters, no looting.
A white kills a black - all of a sudden it's racism, protestors and looting.
I don’t know.
And I don’t know what you tell them, either.
Sin has no skin color. God does not see a person’s skin color and say “sinner”. And it is not the job of the clergy to point out everyone’s sins.
Why should I care what a bunch of pedophile-protecting cloistered men think about anything? They need to work on getting that plank out of their own eye instead of flicking at the specks of sawdust in America’s eye.
Very few people care what they think; they’ve strayed so far from their message nobody listens to them except activists pushing non-religious agendas. Have they spoken out against the Supreme Court ruling about special protections regarding sexual identity? That ruling spells a lot of problems for religious groups, yet these clowns are probably celebrating it.
