Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

(Music in The Bible)

Hebrew Worship Words

Macha

Psalm 98:8
Let the rivers clap their hands,
    let the mountains sing together for joy;

Isaiah 55:12
You will go out in joy
    and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills
will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field
    will clap their hands.

Ezekiel 25:6-7
For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because you have clapped your hands and stamped your feet, rejoicing with all the malice of your heart against the land of Israel, 7 therefore I will stretch out my hand against you and give you as plunder to the nations. I will wipe you out from among the nations and exterminate you from the countries. I will destroy you, and you will know that I am the Lord.’”

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Almighty God and Everlasting Father,
How Glorious and Wonderful is Your Most Holy Name!
You Alone Are Worthy of Worship and Praise,
For You Alone Are The One True God,
Almighty and Eternal,
Wonderful! Counselor!
Glorious and Transcendent,
Rock of Ages,
Ancient of Days,
King of Kings,
and Lord of Lords!

Thank You, LORD,
For For being Our Wonderful Counselor,
The Only One Who Listens, when everyone else turns away.
Indeed, Our Everlasting Father,
Who has us engraved upon the palms of Your Hands.

The "father of lies" accuses Your people day and night.
We pray for an end to the slander!

You, Father, are our Provision,
Our Security,
Our Prosperity,
and Our Future.
We are nothing without You.

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.

We Pray For Our President,
And other Leaders of Our Beloved USA
May They Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

When Ludwig Van Beethoven conducted his Ninth Symphony, he was completely deaf. After a roaring climactic coda, he lay down his baton and just stood there, facing the musicians, with his normal scowl on his face. Then, one of the musicians tapped him on the shoulder and turned his body around. Beethoven looked out into the audience, and saw that they had all risen to their feet and were giving him thunderous applause, although to him, it was silent.

A few days ago, I sent a funny video clip to my email list. It was from a 1987 Johnny Carson program, and was a "singing dog contest". Six rather bewildered canines were trotted out and signaled by their trainer to sing. The varying sounds were not quite "singing", but were very funny to watch, especially the facial expressions on the dogs. Only one dog, a Basset Hound, refused to go along with the gag and sat glumly on the piano bench. Perhaps he was the funniest one of all.

The winner was determined by a VU-Meter that measured the volume and duration of the audience applause. One dog, upon hearing the applause, began to sing AGAIN.

Applause is an extremely powerful expression. However, it has to be spontaneous. If it is forced, it becomes meaningless. When Stalin's speeches were interrupted by outbursts of applause, nobody wanted to be the first to stop clapping, as it could mean a trip to the Gulag or a bullet in the head. Live TV audiences are instructed to applaud by blinking signs, and even though it is real, it has the effect of "canned laughter" in the broadcast. Forced applause does not "cut the mustard". It has the effect of a certain failed Presidential Candidate saying "Please Clap." I have a feeling he may never recover from that gaffe.

However, real applause is amazingly powerful. Musicians and entertainers LIVE for that moment.

A "Standing O" is one of the most gratifying and affirming things a musician can experience. In the beautiful language of Hebrew Poetry, the Psalmist personifies the trees, the mountains, the seas, and the rivers as they glorify God their Creator. The Trees of the Field, The rivers and streams, and the mighty oceans "clap their hands" in a huge "Standing O" for the Creator of the Universe. The very rocks sing praise. The Universe sings along, praising God with radio waves that are constant applause. And they don't even need a blinking sign to do it.

I’m sure the people clapped because the dog sang...not that he sang well. ;)

Amen. Quick story: I hunt, and at the time, lived in Pennsylvania. I was in my deerstand on cold early winter morning, and every tree was laid with a coating of ice. When the sun came up, and the ice began to melt, it started cracking, and it sounded like “clapping”. It was tremendous and loud. I was in awe and reminded of the scripture that even the trees clap. What a wonderful time of Praise I had that day. Praying for the Peace of Jerusalem.

I LOVE that story! I, too, have heard Nature praising God in different circumstances. That is awesome. Thanks! :-)
