Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

I have taught a few of my friends how to ride a motorcycle. Overcoming the fear of tipping over is the first hurdle.

"You won't tip over," I say. "You have three things working for you, Gravity, Inertia, and Centrifugal Force. The very same things that hold the GALAXY together!"

Well, sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't. Oh Well.

In lighthearted banter on another thread last night, we got into a discussion about the Space Program and Flight Simulators. When I lived in Florida, I spent a lot of time visiting Cape Canaveral and actually witnessed a night launch of the Space Shuttle. Being someone who will try anything...once...I went onto several flight simulators, including a centrifuge and the affectionately-named the "Barf Ball" (a multiple-axis training seat). I felt what it would be like to be weightless, and also what it is like to "Pull G's". "Pulling G's is the sensation of weighing several times your own body weight due to acceleration. One can experience this in a fast vehicle or roller coaster, but it is not nearly as intense as what astronauts feel when they are being launched in a rocket. Gravity is such a serious, powerful, and inevitable force, that we have many English words related to it. Among them are "grave", ""gravel", and "gravitas". All of these suggest serious, ponderous weight, especially "gravitas". Presidential candidates have often been criticized for not having enough of it.

On the other hand, a huge bag of gold would be so heavy that you could not lift it, so weightiness can also mean wealth. The same could be said for a ton of grain which would indicate abundance. A particularly wise argument could be called "weighty", and Ponderous music can be called "heavy". Listen to this!

You can just FEEL the weight of the big, lumbering oxen pulling the heavy cart.

(Imagine that this was once a PIANO piece and was later orchestrated by Maurice Ravel. That's a lot of POUNDING.)

The weight of Dignity, Splendor, Majesty, and Glory of the One True God can not be measured in G-Forces, Musical Notes, or even the whole of "Gravity" in the Universe. He CREATED Gravity. And, that, my FRiends, has more gravitas than anyone can imagine.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
