Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

This is a memory from long, long ago, so it is somewhat vague. I must have been very young, because I was watching "I Love Lucy" on a black-and-white set whose furniture was bigger than the screen. Anyway, Lucy and Ethel were trying to move a grand piano (for some reason!), and there was a huge marble bust of Beethoven on it. Ethel tried to lift the bust but it weighed too much. She exclaimed:
"Now I know why he wrote such HEAVY music!"
That didn't make sense to me. How could music be "heavy"? So of course, I asked my Dad. He immediately put a record on the Hi-Fi with Beethoven's Sixth Symphony. It wasn't heavy at all...it was lovely. Then he put on a record of the FIFTH Symphony, and I felt the WEIGHT of it.
Interestingly enough, during my teen years, an adjective for a particularly deep or awesome thing, especially music, was the term "Heavy", as in "Ooo...that's HEAVY, man!" and Beethoven was now classified under the category of "Light Classical Music". In fact, when asked in the movie Soylent Green for his musical preference, Sol (played masterfully by Edward G. Robinson) answered "Classical....LIGHT Classical." So, what did they play for him as he closed his eyes in death? Beethoven's SIXTH, of course!
"Heavy" in the Bible can mean many things but here, as a Worship Word, it means heavy with wealth, abundance, glory, power, and majesty. The sheer WEIGHT of God's magnificence is such that who can lift it? But it, instead lifts us to heights we can't imagine.
Unlike a marble bust of Beethoven, which is dead weight, the music of Beethoven is "heavy" in a way that is alive, rich, and weighty. There's a big difference.
