Lindsey Horvath said she knows that life begins at conception, but she believes in abortions anyway.
The West Hollywood City councilwoman also claimed she supports abortions because of her Catholic faith – even though the Catholic Church teaches that abortions are evil because they destroy innocent children’s lives.
In an interview with USC Annenberg Media, Horvath tried to explain her contradictory claims through her personal experiences and beliefs.
“Because of my Catholic upbringing, when I see people being mistreated, it’s impossible for me to unsee it,” Horvath said of her pro-abortion position. “‘Helping the least among us’ has been a mantra instilled in me from a very young age.”
She did not explain why she excludes unborn babies from “the least among us.” Unborn babies are unique, living human beings from the moment of conception, something she acknowledged to be true in the interview. And abortions destroy unborn babies’ lives, often in brutal, barbaric ways, including by dismemberment.
But to Horvath, their lives are worth sacrificing. In her mind, the world is a better place because women can easily and legally abort their unborn babies.
When she was a little girl, she understood the simple truth. According to the report: “She remembers going to the right to life mass with her mother as a young child and asking, ‘Why would anyone want to kill babies?’”
As she grew older, however, her views began to warp.

In high school, she said one of her friends had an abortion and struggled afterward with pain and guilt. Rather than acknowledge that her baby’s death was the source of that pain, Horvath somehow came to believe the opposite.
According to the report:
When Horvath moved to West Hollywood, she began meeting people who had positive experiences with the procedure. She said she met women who explained to her what having access to abortion meant to them.
Between the experience she had with her high school friend and the stories she heard from community members, Horvath came to realize she wrongly believed that women who had abortions have no regard for life nor personal morals. Instead, she learned that the decision to have an abortion is complex, but the procedure ultimately benefits them.
Later, she said a speech by pro-abortion attorney Sarah Weddington who represented “Jane Roe” in Roe v. Wade also persuaded her to support abortions.
“That’s when I began to understand in legal terms what I believe morally and what I hope to live out as an example in life versus what needs to be a law,” Horvath said.
Interestingly, another “pro-choice” feminist had the opposite reaction after listening to Weddington talk about the infamous case. That woman now is a pro-life leader.
Horvath, in contrast, has become actively involved in the pro-abortion movement. In 2019, she wrote a city resolution slamming Georgia for passing a law to protect unborn babies from abortion once their heartbeats are detectable, according to the report. She also advocated for a new Planned Parenthood abortion facility in the city and wrote an ordinance forcing every pharmacy to provide emergency contraception, including forms that may cause abortions.
Horvath claimed her faith motivates her to be a good example for others.
“I think we’re not called to tell people what to do; we’re called to show people how to live,” she told the news outlet.
But leaders, politicians especially, are called to protect life, and sometimes that means telling people what to do. Abortions kill innocent human beings, women’s own children. There is nothing compassionate about them and no problem that only abortions can fix. True compassion and true leadership mean standing strong for what is right and defending the defenseless, not sacrificing some human beings for the supposed good of others.

This is the result from preaching the feel good social gospel and not teaching about sin and the necessity of repentance.
Abortion is a tortuously painful way to die. It doesn’t feel good. It also tortures the conscience of the mother, who also doesn’t feel good, but for politically correct reasons, she must pretend convincingly to celebrate the dead baby.
Her religion is Demonrat and infanticide is one of its high holy tenets.
