Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

(Music in The Bible)

Hebrew Worship Words

Calal (Salal)

Psalm 68:4
Sing to God, sing in praise of his name,
    extol him who rides on the clouds[a];
    rejoice before him—his name is the Lord.

Isaiah 57:14
 And it will be said:
“Build up, build up, prepare the road!
    Remove the obstacles out of the way of my people.”

Proverbs 4:8
Cherish her, and she will exalt you;
    embrace her, and she will honor you.

New International Version (NIV)(End of Scripture Passage)

.

"Salal" comes from a word meaning "to cast up" or "pile up". We still use a similar expression when we speak of "building someone up" by praising that person.

Strong's Concordance 5549
salal: to lift up, cast up
Original Word: סָלַל
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: salal
Phonetic Spelling: (saw-lal')
Definition: to lift up, cast up

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD, Our God,
How Excellent is Your Name Over All The Earth!
We Worship and Bow Down Before You,
Oh Father,
For You,
and You Alone Are Worthy;
You Alone Are Holy;
You Alone Are The One True God Of Abraham!

Lord, as Your Word says,
You have been our dwelling place
throughout all generations.

Before the mountains were born
or you brought forth the earth and the world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

You turn men back to dust,
saying, "Return to dust, O sons of men."
For a thousand years in your sight
are like a day that has just gone by,
or like a watch in the night.

Abba Father, We Are in Awe of Your Magnificence!

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.

We Pray For Our President,
And other Leaders of Our Beloved USA
May They Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

ML/LTOS

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH For Our Brethren Of All Faiths Throughout The World Suffering Persecution.
We pray in particular on behalf of our brothers and sisters in Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Libya and throughout the Mideast. The members of the oldest of our Christian Communities, some of which date from the days of the Apostles, suffer under cruel, merciless and unrelenting persecution. They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors, we are all "Nazarenes."

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

I belong to an online "book club" in which I am able to post book reviews, read others, and join in discussions with other readers. What I find interesting is the contrast between the official "blurb" about the book and the reader-reviews that follow. The "blurb" always builds up, and many reader-reviews tear down. While there are some people who will ALWAYS write a poor review (one wonders why they bother reading, if it is so irksome!), even the GOOD reviews never quite measure up to the "blurb". I just finished a book that had won all kinds of awards, rocketed to Number One on the NYT Best Seller List, and had pages of good reviews. Although I finished the book last night, it failed to provide me with any edification whatsoever. Thus, my review will be one word. "Meh."

Today's Hebrew Worship Word can be translated as "Extol" and comes from a verb that means "to build up". When we extol the Lord, we tell of His Greatness, His Goodness, His Excellence, and His Perfection. While we are "building", or "piling up" these praises, it is a form of prayer. However, unlike book reviews, extolling the Lord is NOT a matter of opinion. Whether a person praises God or not, God is STILL Great, Good, Perfect, Eternal and Wonderful.

And so, extolling the Lord builds us up. By giving Him the Glory, we grow (and are built up) in Him.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Note that great rabbis have declared today a special day of prayer and suggest each person give $18 to a charity.

Tomorrow begins the Hebrew month of Iyar, which is known to be a time of healing.
