Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD, Our God,
How Excellent is Your Name over all the Earth!
You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The One True God.
We Worship You and You Alone.

Abba, Your Word is Healing and Life to Our Souls.
It is better to offer thanksgiving and praise
For what we have

And dwell in Your Spirit,
And in Your Righteousness, Than to have an abundance of worldly goods,
And yet be empty in our souls,
Bitter, Contentious,
Quarreling and beset with strife.
For what do we profit,
If we gain the world,
But lose our very souls?

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.

We Pray For Our President,
And other Leaders of Our Beloved USA
May They Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

ML/LTOS

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

One of the most emotionally rewarding jobs I have ever had was that of a "Strolling Minstrel" providing music in some very old, crowded, and depressing nursing homes in Inner-City Boston. These were old Victorian houses that had been made into facilities, and had no large room where I could set up a keyboard, so I just walked from room to room with my acoustic guitar, and played "requests". "Requests" meant anything from Blues to Sam Cooke to Gospel. I had other gigs too, where I would make a lot more money, but somehow these sessions meant more to me. Although these "homes" were in the toughest section of Boston, I was never troubled by "youts" or the gangs that infested the area. God's Grace surrounded me like a bubble.

I could not call myself a "Music Therapist" because the discipline did not exist at the time, and the word "therapist" implies licensure. I didn't have a license to sing, I just did it. There wasn't a single word in English that described what I did for a living.

Today's word implies a singer, walking around with a stringed instrument, praising God. It's kind of awesome to see that there is actually a WORD for what I was.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Amen.

Strolling minstrel? That would take a unique set of musical skills as you both walk (without bumping into things), play your instrument and sing simultaneously. I imagine it would require being one with your instrument as you use it to communicate. Maybe during this time, you could stroll around your neighborhood playing and singing? I’m sure people would be blessed.

I DID bump into things occasionally. Once, in Southie, I crashed into a marble-topped table that fell to the floor and shattered.

I didn’t have to pay for the table, but I wasn’t invited back. LOL.
