We are "surrounded by one almighty, whether we like it or not," Hildesheim Bishop Heiner Wilmer, Germany, told DeutschlandFunk.de (April 12).
He identifies "death" as "the almighty par excellence."
Wilmer criticises Catholics because they are "fixated only on the Eucharist" although Christ is "also present" in the Bible and in communal prayer [but in a very different way].
The reaction of the faithful to the coronavirus ban on liturgy shows that "the Eucharist is indeed overrated," Wilmer repeats, "As if there were nothing else."
Despite the prohibition of all liturgies, Wilmer doesn't feel restricted in his religious freedom. The "real renouncement" for him is "giving up on the community."

Another heretic speaks....
God save us.
Does Germany have more than its share of heretical bishops - or do they just have the biggest mouths?
Yes to both questions.
The response of the American Bishops is about the same as what this German Heretic is saying. As Catholics, we are supposed to believe that there is more than just this life but by shutting down the Sacramental life without trying to find extraordinary safe ways for the laity not to be deprived, they are essentially saying eternal life is not as important as our life on this planet and that the Sacraments aren’t worth the bother. We NEED Confession, We NEED extreme unction, we NEED Baptism! There are safe ways to receive these Sacraments but the Bishops are content to concede that Freedom of Religion is not important and can wait.
Christ, the Victor over sin and death, trampled down death. He trampled it down. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. The “Excellencies” must choke on these words.
