Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Today's "Hebrew Worship Word" is "Hallel" which is the root of the word "Hallelujah". When we looked at the Psalms, we saw that this word started and ended many of them. The Passover Service contains a collection of "Hallelujah Psalms" (called the Egyptian Hallel), and the whole Psalter has a grande finale of five more Hallelujah Psalms. It is the Prayer of Easter, (He Is Risen, He is Risen Indeed, Hallelujah!), and it a a part of our American vocabulary, even though it is a Hebrew Word.

Once again, I did not plan this to be the word for the day, right here on Passover/Easter, but it DID happen.

PRAISE THE LORD!

The members of the oldest of our Christian Communities, some of which date from the days of the Apostles, suffer under cruel, merciless and unrelenting persecution. They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors, we are all "Nazarenes."
