It has been hard for me each time I have prayed over the years for God to shake up people in my own vicinity, in the state, the nation and the world. Each time I have prayed that, I have been apologetic, knowing that a shake-up sufficient to dislodge significant numbers of people from their complacency. Knowing (imagining) what such a shake-up might entail, I’ve shrunken back at the thought. Yet I want to see people get off the broad way to destruction and onto the narrow way that leads to eternal life. And so I pray.
Now we are seeing the sort of worldwide event with that kind of potential. Yes, the hard-hearted will shake their fists at God and give Him bad grades over the ugly effects on humanity. But there will be others awakened out of their sleep, their stupor, their vanity, their pride, their self-sufficiency, etc., to bow to the God of the Bible and come to Him by the Blood of Jesus Christ.
Any time God acts, it is out of His love and sense of justice (even though it might not seem like it to those who refuse to credit Him with perfection).
In Hebrews 12 we find a hint at what we may be seeing:
25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:
26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.
27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
Great post! And in contrast to the fallout of what you are praying for, what is a few months (years) of pain/angst over an eternity of it?
I thank God I woke up when He shook me to the core a few times in my life.
I woke this morn thinking about how the Trump haters oppose him at every turn. Even to the point of governors denying their own citizens medicine. It then occurred to me this is what Satan has done throughout the ages. I am not calling the President the Savior, but man his words, thoughts and actions totally expose the vileness and evil of the opposition. It is enlightening but also a little frightening as to seeing the oppositons true thoughts.
It is sad and we can always do more to evangelize, but what do you do with a hardened society? The scriptures explain extremes that have been and that will come at some point, of the hardness of hearts. We start by looking at our own, especially in these times.
Things sure changed rapidly - at least in the short term.
