Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Holy, Holy, Holy,
LORD, God of Power and Might,
Heaven and Earth Are Filled With Your Glory!
How Truly Wonderful You Are, Dear Father!
And How Precious Is Your Holy Name!

We are not ashamed,
Abba, Father,
To Do what seems foolish to the World,
to lift up our hands in Praise to You,
In Adoration,
and in Worship.
What we would never give to another person,
Our Total and Complete Surrender,

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

So...we have reached the top of the stairway in our Songs of Ascents. What do we do now? We WORSHIP the Lord. This final song in this little songbook tells us to do just that. It gives us the direction to "Lift up our Hands" in the Sanctuary. This is closely related to the Hebrew Letter Yud, which we studied in Psalm 119. "Yud" represents a hand, and "Yad" is the word for hand. "Yadah" means worship, by means of raising one's hands to God. (This is not an "in depth study", but just a taste). There are some very starchy houses of worship out there that may look askance at somebody raising his hands, but here it is in the Bible.

So I'm OK with it! :-)

We pray in particular on behalf of our brothers and sisters in Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Libya and throughout the Mideast. The members of the oldest of our Christian Communities, some of which date from the days of the Apostles, suffer under cruel, merciless and unrelenting persecution. They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors, we are all "Nazarenes."
