Alcalá de Henares Bishop Juan Antonio Reig Pla, Spain, 72, has NOT suspended public Masses in his diocese, “Mass is heaven on earth, and without it man loses his soul,” Reig told LaNuovaBq.it(March 20),
“There is no need to deny the Bread from Heaven to those who are able to attend Mass and desire God's comfort.”
Reig was not pressured by the government to stop public Masses, although Spain is under heavy restrictions. Liturgies are allowed under preventive measures like keeping safe distances and disinfecting floors and pews.
For Reig the coronavirus is a blow for “the pride of globalism and our technocratic society.”
The Church ought now “to return to the decisive questions of human salvation.”

Many of us will request reinstatement of masses if this goes on another week or two. Adjustments can be made. Hell, most people are spread out in the church anyway, way beyond 6’. The priest or Eucharistic ministers can be protected by mask and gown. I don’t think many of us will accept Easter Sunday and Holy Week being eliminated.
All this happened so fast that we’ve initially given the benefit of the doubt toward safety. But a lot of us will demand “shit or get off the pot” if the data doesn’t start shaking out as dire is that required to justify quarantine. Granted, it will take a couple of weeks to get a true take on the numbers.

I have told our priest and both Bishops in this area that Jesus went to the lepers and his first words to his disciples were Fear not.
Our priest had drive in Masses where we stayed in our cars. It worked great!
