In times of great crisis, its natural and normal for people to ponder and pose any number of questions. Lately, Ive been asked how an all-powerful God would allow the coronavirus to wreak such havoc clear across the world.
This virus has claimed the lives of thousands and ravaged hundreds of thousands more.
Many people want to know why God wont stop it. Where is He in the middle of this global pandemic?
Theological questions of this nature have been asked, I suspect, since the beginning of time. Unexplained tragedy, unspeakable suffering and inconceivable circumstances of all kinds have marked humanity down through the years. Its actually only been in recent years that weve enjoyed relative peace and prosperity across the globe.
Crack open a history book and youll soon discover that as dire and as difficult as things may seem today, the world has faced much worse in the past.

Not really a crisis unless you think hanging out at home dorking on the internet is a crisis.
There are entire Christian communities being slaughtered and enslaved by islamic soldiers all across the world today...maybe he is there.
I suppose one could consider that since so many people have kicked God out of most aspects of their lives, and as a result, our society, it’s kind of ironic to wonder where He is when something bad happens.
He’s right where He’s always been, trying to get our attention to draw us to Himself.
If it takes more and more extreme measures, that’s not His fault.
God is here. Where are you?
That one set of footprints you see? Those aren’t yours.
It’s a stupid “people” issue! How are people to learn if God steps in to solve all our stupidly-created issues!?
Read the Book of Job.
Mr. Daly, you will have to talk to Adam and Eve for the answer to your question. They were the first humans to ask for free will....
God is right where you left Him silly humans.
Why is it that people wonder where God is when things go badly, but not when things go well?
+100000!! I could no agree more!!
“This virus has claimed the lives of thousands and ravaged hundreds of thousands more.”
Thousands dead over ten months in a world with 8 billion people.
What does “ravaged” even mean here? It’s a visceral word used purely for emotional value not meaning.
As for the question, how about why has God allowed it to be so mild and minuscule?
Why isn’t much worse?
And Leviticus 26.
Isn’t it God who should be asking the questions (see Gen. 3:9)...
I asked my husband.....what are we in the middle of?.......
He replied.....the palm of Gods hand...
Excellent post. Thank you.
My prayer is that this will bring down evil oppressive governments in Iran and China.
And probably shaking His head a little over us.
Read the Book of Job.
Job 42:5 I had only heard about You before, but now I have seen You with my own eyes.
I always enjoy the bottom line message of Job. sometimes I peek to the end of some books, it makes the rest of the book more understandable.
We live in a fallen world. The only hope is Jesus.
“Hes right where Hes always been, trying to get our attention to draw us to Himself. ... If it takes more and more extreme measures, thats not His fault.”
To me it’s simple; He lives within each of Us to the extent that We allow him in. Plenty of room for growth with no occupancy limit. We’re the original free agents, it’s our call but a call that’s answered 24/7.
