Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

(Music in The Bible)

Psalms

Psalm 127

A song of ascents. Of Solomon.

1 Unless the Lord builds the house,
    the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain.
2 In vain you rise early
    and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat—
for he grants sleep to[a] those he loves.

3 Children are a heritage from the Lord,
    offspring a reward from him.
4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth.
5 Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame
when they contend with their opponents in court.

Footnotes:

1. Psalm 127:2 Or eat— / for while they sleep he provides for

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Almighty and Everlasting Father,
How Glorious and Wonderful is Your Most Holy Name!
You Alone Are Worthy of Worship and Praise,
For You Alone Are The One True God,
Almighty and Eternal,
Glorious and Transcendent,
Rock of Ages,
Ancient of Days,
King of Kings,
and Lord of Lords!

1. Unless the LORD builds the house,
They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the LORD guards the city,
The watchman stays awake in vain.
2. It is vain for you to rise up early,
To sit up late,
To eat the bread of sorrows;
For so He gives His beloved sleep.

Without You, any attempt to build our house,
or our Nation,
is in vain.
For You, Father, are Our Provision,
Our Security,
Our Prosperity,
and Our Future.
We are nothing without You.

3. Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
4. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
5. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them;
They shall not be ashamed,
But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.

We Pray that the Terrible practice of Abortion will be brought to an end,
Both in Our own Country and in Israel.
We Pray that every Child that is conceived will be cherished and loved.
We Pray that no child shall be taught the ways of terrorism,
and that all will have a chance to learn the Truth.
This we pray, in Faith,
knowing that it is not Your Will that any should perish.
We also pray today for First Responders and their support staff.

We Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Word.
We Pray That Those Who Sow in Tears,
Shall Reap in Joy,
According To Your Promise.
We Pray For Our Own Nation,
That You will Restore Honor, Dignity, and Prosperity,
According to Your Will.

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.

We Pray For Our President,
And other Leaders of Our Beloved USA
May They Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

From Wikipedia

In 1978, a huge blizzard buried the Northeastern United States. Back-to-back storms dumped huge amounts of snow, paralyzing the great cities, and closing down all the schools and businesses for two weeks. The snow did not go away and there was no place to put it while shoveling, so most people just hunkered down in their homes with occasional forays into the Arctic Landscape to try and free their cars from the wintry grip.

I had a Samoyed who loved to pull, so I rigged him up to a harness to my mom's old Flexible Flyer Sled, put a wooden Milk Crate on it, and delivered bread and milk to my snowbound neighbors. Preston (the dog) became a neighborhood celebrity and I still remember him fondly.

During the down-time, people did their best to keep up with school work and family time. There was no Internet (at least not in regular homes) so people used what they had to educate their kids...but it was mostly one big Snow Day that lasted for weeks.

There was something very strange about those weeks, and, at first, people could not figure out what it was. Day after Day, outside shoveling by hand (nobody had snowblowers back then), people began to notice it. It was like a clean, crisp magical aura, that everybody felt, but couldn't describe. It was the SILENCE. City people don't realize it, but we are always surrounded by background noise. Sometimes it is barely perceptible, like a highway a mile away, but it is always there. The Blizzard of 78 caused everything to shut down. There were 100 deaths and 4500 injuries reported.

In 2005, Florida experienced so many hurricanes that the Weather Service ran out of names for them. Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast more than Florida, but Wilma made up the difference. My community was without electricity for nearly four weeks, and isolated by uprooted banyan trees that blocked the streets in the gated enclaves, forcing people to rely on one another for help. Since our neighbors were all different ethnicities, the entire neighborhood was a roving barbecue, Arroz con Pollo, one night, jerk chicken the next, BBQ ribs, etc. There was no SILENCE though. The people who had gas generators ran them until they ran out of fuel. Then they siphoned gas out of their trapped cars to run the generators. Then they ran out of that. Just when the Silence came, the lights came back on and people set off fireworks to celebrate. It was an amazing experience of neighborhood solidarity, not unlike the Blizzard of 78. The 2005 Hurricane Sean claimed over 3900 lives in the USA.

Now we are in the midst of a new crisis, but people seem to be behaving differently than in the other emergency situations in my lifetime. Is it Social Media that is driving the negativity, hoarding, economic panic, and nastiness?

Today's Psalm gives us an Eternal Truth. "Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Natural and Man-Made Disasters will continue. It's not what HAPPENS that matters, it is how WE RESPOND to it.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.” " (Hosea 6:3, NIV)

What a great set of memories and perspective. We see that more in our small town. Back in 1956, people were climbing out of their second story windows because of the snow. Everyone who remembers it, says great things about how much fun the neighborhoods had helping each other out and making the whole event “fun” because they went through it together.

This attack is unprecedented, but we believers are standing strong in believing in our great God and knowing that “no storm lasts forever” We will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

A couple of years ago, I heard a prophet say that the United States would be born again. This may be the birthing pangs of that.

I was reminded this morning of God’s promise In Genesis 12:3:
And I will bless (do good for, benefit) those who bless you, And I will curse [that is, subject to My wrath and judgment] the one who curses (despises, dishonors, has contempt for) you. And in you all the families (nations) of the earth will be blessed.”

God has given us a President who blesses Israel and a “Left that Other Site” who leads us in blessing her daily. Father, we receive Your blessing for these things. We trust Your goodness in Jesus’ name. Amen.
