Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

(Music in The Bible)

Psalms

Psalm 124

A song of ascents. Of David.

1 If the Lord had not been on our side—
    let Israel say—
2 if the Lord had not been on our side
    when people attacked us,
3 they would have swallowed us alive
    when their anger flared against us;
4 the flood would have engulfed us,
the torrent would have swept over us,
5 the raging waters
    would have swept us away.

6 Praise be to the Lord,
who has not let us be torn by their teeth.

7 We have escaped like a bird
    from the fowler’s snare;
the snare has been broken,
    and we have escaped.

8 Our help is in the name of the Lord,

the Maker of heaven and earth.

New International Version (NIV)(End of Scripture Passage)

.

This Psalm, attributed to David, sings of the Lord's Provision and Deliverance.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Holy, Holy, Holy, are You!
LORD , God, Of Power and Might!
You Who Created The Heavens and The Earth With the Very Word of Your Mouth,
The Breath of Your Lips is life Itself!

Abba Father!
Your Word Speaks of Captivities,
and of the Nations which have overtaken Your People,
And Yet Your People Always Return,
To YOU, and to the Land of Your Promise.
Your Word Speaks of Exile and Return,
Again and Again,
And The Surety of Your Heritage For Your People Israel.
Without You, they would have been Swallowed Up Alive,
But in Spite of Incredible Odds,
and in spite of the Centuries,
You are Always Faithful
Even When Man is not.
Your Holiness, Righteousness,
and Perfection Knows No Boundaries, Oh Lord!

You made the heavens.
You made the Earth.
You made the galaxies and the nebulae,
the black holes, the galactic clusters,
the quasars and the infinite reaches of the Universe!
Nothing is too difficult for You! You are the Aleph~Tav,
The Alpha and The Omega,
The Beginning and the End!
The Eternal,
The Transcendent,
Wonderful,
Counselor,
Almighty God,
The Everlasting Father,
the Prince of Peace!
The Snare is Broken, and we have escaped.
If You be for us, WHO can stand against us?

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.

We Pray For Our President,
And other Leaders of Our Beloved USA
May They Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Some of you are familiar with my own personal Bible-Reading Program, which has 8 Bookmarks arranged in this manner:

4 in the OT like this:

1. The Torah (Genesis through Deuteronomy)
2. History (Joshua through Esther...this is the longest and most difficult section and will take the whole year)
3. Poetry (Job through Song of Solomon...Job is tough, but the more times you read it, the better it gets)
4. Prophets (Isaiah through Malachi)

4 in the NT:

1. The Gospels (Matthew through John)
2. Acts
3. The Epistles (Romans through Jude)
4. Revelation.

Since I have been reading the Bible this way for many years, there is no way I can predict what chapters I will be reading on any given day, because it just keeps going year after year. Nevertheless, sometimes things come up that are just extraordinary, and I NEED to share! Here were today's readings:

OT:

1. The Torah (Numbers 12...Miriam opposes Moses and gets Leprosy)
2. History (Joshua , God's Appointed Leader sets Boundaries)
3. Poetry (Today's Psalm 124, about Deliverance)
4. Prophets (Isaiah 30 A chastisement for sin, and a promise of redemption. "In quietness and confidence is your strength")

NT:

1. The Gospels (Mark 14 Jesus predicts Peter's denial)
2. Acts (Acts 10, Peter's vision of the clean foods)
3. The Epistles (James 5 "Are there any sick among you?")
4. Revelation.(Rev 2 Letter to the Church in Thyatira, Sexual Immorality leading to disease "a bed of suffering".)

Of course, the reading from the Torah was at the beginning of my devotions, and it was shocking. Miriam and Aaron are grumbling against Moses because of his choice of a wife. She was a Cushite Woman, so, ergo, an African. We don't know if they were against her because she was a Gentile, or Black, or whatever. Because they were plotting and grumbling against God's Anointed leader, God struck Miriam with a DREADED Disease. The irony is that Leprosy turns skin dead white and so perhaps Miriam was being judged not only for opposing Moses, but for her bigotry as well. Moses is horrified, and earnestly prays to God for her healing. God grants Moses his prayer, but Miriam must be quarantined for seven days anyway.

Next we have History, and Joshua is the Anointed Leader, in the process of conquering the Promised Land. He goes about setting Boundaries according to the Twelve Tribes.

Next, we have Today's Psalm, and shows God's People escaping the snares of the enemy.

In Isaiah, we read of a period of judgement, followed by redemption. The key verse inspires confidence and peace.

The New Testament shows us Peter boasting that he will NEVER desert Jesus. Yet we know that, in just a few chapters, he will deny his Master THREE TIMES. We also know that Peter is later reinstated and becomes a great leader of the Apostles.

Peter's vision in the Book of Acts is all about FOOD. The Food represents Jews and Gentiles. Peter dreams of a sheet being lowered containing all kinds of food, some of it quite nasty, to Peter's eyes. I was immediately reminded of the Wuhan Wet Market and Bat Soup. As nasty as that market is, I don't think it was the cause of the Wuhan Virus. Like other sinful, horrible things, I suspect the virus was man-made. But that's just me.

In James, we are told to anoint the sick and pray for them. Some think that the application of oil is a form of medical treatment, and others think it is a purely spiritual thing. Nevertheless, James tells us to TREAT the Patient AND Pray for him. Not just one or the other.

Finally, in Revelation, God gives us a hint at the origins of some really bad diseases. Sexual Immorality is a big part of it, but the root of it all is SIN. Unfortunately, since we are all on this planet together, the results of sin cross boundaries and affect innocent people as well. And so, I heartily approve of our President's Emergency Procedures for this latest scourge. Even though he has had to fight opposition from day one, President Trump has done a great job. I should send him this outline:

1. The Torah (Numbers 12...Quarantine)
2. History (Joshua...Boundaries)
3. Poetry (Psalm 124...Trust God For Deliverance)
4. Prophets (Isaiah 30... "In quietness and confidence is your strength")

1. The Gospels (Mark 14...Ignore the Boasting and the Bombast)
2. Acts (Acts 10...Cleanliness, but don't assume food is the cause of this disease)
3. The Epistles (James 5...Treatment and Prayer)
4. Revelation.(Rev 2...Letter to the Church in Thyatira, Clean up the Culture!)

As I made a promise to you years ago that I would ALWAYS tell you what is my personal interpretation vs. Biblical Exegesis, I am keeping my pledge. These were just musings that came up in my own Bible devotions this morning, and I felt I could share them with you. I trust you all to have discernment and spiritual maturity when reading these thoughts of mine. It was just SO incredible, I had to share.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.” " (Hosea 6:3, NIV)

God Bless America!
