Is Matlock on the “down’low” and setting himself up for forgiveness from his flock?

Why were Sodom and Gomorrah destroyed?
For being unwelcoming to illegal aliens?

His “clarity on Throupling” series will draw at least an equal number of viewers.

The Orthodox Church began
Great Lent by praying Great Compline with the Great Canon of Repentance by St. Andrew of Crete.
At the end of the service these fitting words from St. Luke's Gospel were read
And He said,
"Take heed that you are not led astray;
for many will come in my name, saying,
'I am he!' and, 'The time is at hand!' Do not go after them."

Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Galations 1:6-9 “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!
Myth replaces truth:
“The time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.” (2 Timothy 4:3-4

Beware of false prophets (Matthew 7:15). The Bible plainly condemns homosexual behavior saying that those who practice it will not be included in the kingdom of Heaven (1Corinthians 6:9).That means salvation is lost to them.

I’ve seen churches like this come and go and have never seen one that lasted 10 years. Most don’t even last 5.

That’s not far off what liberal Pastors will tell you.

Not a matter of salvation? Paul seems to have a different point of view in Romans 1 (and other places in the NT). Sexual sins are not the unforgivable sin but the defiant attitude that underlie them and that makes a person prefer sexual perversity to Jesus Christ is.

They were inhospitable, of course. Inhospitality is an abomination.
Just take a good look at the Book of Damien (Chapter 6, Verse 66).

The word of God is the same yesterday, today, forever. When a liberal fellow church member told me the church had to stay up with the times, I told him the above.
He accused me of being a Baptist (we are Methodists).

The church I grew up in went this way. We used to have about 200 on an average Sunday attendance. When last I heard, it was down to less than a dozen.
That should not even be surprising. If you tell the congregation that the written Word has no special meaning or authority, then why go to church? You can just decide for yourself what is right and wrong - after all, that's what the preacher is doing.

I think - and believe the Bible says - that you are exactly right. You can put anything you want in the front of that sentence. In our resurrection bodies, all the sins of the flesh will no longer be relevant. All the sins of greed or desire for security will no longer be relevant. All the sins of honest error will no longer be relevant.
All that will remain, and will lead to death, are sins of rebellion. Or, as you put it, 'defiance.' So a particular perversity is not a salvation issue, but defiance - declaring that you know better than God what is and isn't holy - that is a problem. Fighting perversity, even if the urges remain, is one way to learn to accept God's authority. Denying perversity or other weaknesses (including things like alcoholism, or greed) only leads to rebellion against God.

In the end of times, I believe that no organized Church will know the word of God. That's not fair! Well, there may be a hint of truth there. I'm looking around and see quite a bit of truth there. But really really looking around, I think you're absolutely right.

the Book of Damien (Chapter 6, Verse 66).Yes, I forgot all about that book. Good reference source.
I forgot it even mentions San Francisco by name. "And they will walk and live in their own feces."
