Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

(Music in The Bible)

Psalm 119

Psalm 119[a]

ר Resh

153 Look on my suffering and deliver me,
    for I have not forgotten your law.

154 Defend my cause and redeem me;
    preserve my life according to your promise.

155 Salvation is far from the wicked,
    for they do not seek out your decrees.

156 Your compassion, Lord, is great;
    preserve my life according to your laws.

157 Many are the foes who persecute me,
    but I have not turned from your statutes.

158 I look on the faithless with loathing,
    for they do not obey your word.

159 See how I love your precepts;
    preserve my life, Lord, in accordance with your love.

160 All your words are true;
    all your righteous laws are eternal.

New International Version (NIV)(End of Scripture Passage)

.

"Resh" sounds like our English Letter "R".

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Today's Stanza of Psalm 119 is "Resh" which is Similar to Our English letter "R" but more guttural in sound. It is the 20th Letter with a numerical Value of 200 and Symbolizes the Head or Chief. Also the Top or Beginning of Something, hence "Rosh Hashanna" is the Beginning of the Year.

What amazed me about this particular Stanza was how David, who is the Accepted Author of this Psalm, Asks The Almighty to Plead his Cause For Him.

He throws himself totally at the Mercy of the Lovingkindness of the Almighty.

One of the interesting things about these Hebrew Letters is the concept of Opposites. (We see this in Hebrew Poetry a lot.) “Resh” can also mean “first” or it can mean “last.” And so, when Jesus said, “the last shall be first and the first shall be last", He was stating a Spiritual Truth that was a play of words right down to the very Hebrew Letters involved.

The Hebrew word for “foot” (anatomically the opposite of head) also begins with the letter “Resh”. We see these opposites of “head” and foot (heel) in the word “Resh” (And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel. Genesis 3:15, NIV).This is what Christian Scholars refer to as "The Protoevangelium", or "The Preview of The Good News".

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.” " (Hosea 6:3, NIV)

Interesting lesson. Original language adds more depth.
Just a thought. Is Resh the root of Russia?

Joining in prayer, left that other site, for the Peace of Jerusalem.

The Kingdom of Rosh is mentioned in the Bible, and many commentators do believe it refers to Russia, yes.
