Catholics at CPAC Say They Will Back President Trump, With Reservations
The National Catholic Register ^ | 3/3/20 | Christine Rouselle

The annual CPAC conference is considered by many to be a reflection of the trends and topics of importance in populist conservative circles.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Catholics attending Mass at the Conservative Political Action Conference convention, held outside Washington, DC, this weekend, told CNA their decision to support President Donald Trump’s bid for reelection is mostly because of his administration’s record on abortion.

CNA spoke to several people who attended one of the daily Masses offered during the event Feb. 26-29.

Several said they could not consider voting for Democratic candidates because of the party's absolute support for abortion, even while some acknowledged that President Trump himself once supported legal protection for abortion.

Javier Martin, an immigrant from Spain who now lives in New York, told CNA after Mass that while he does not agree with Trump on everything, the president’s policies align most closely with his own views, as compared to the other candidates running.

“Policy wise, it’s much harder to vote for Democrats right now, if you felt the pro-life issue is imoprtant to you,” said Martin. “That’s just a non-starter on the Democrat’s side right now.”

Martin said that he thinks that “Trump seems to be going in a better direction” than what other candidates are proposing.

I married a Catholic woman. She’s an immigrant. A naturalized American citizen and very conservative. She was astonished when she came to the USA to attend university at how American Catholics could attend mass on a regular basis and support the brutal practice of abortion.
To this day she simply can’t understand how so many American Catholics can square the plain teachings of The Bible and liberalism.
I explained to her that Liberals are Liberals First and Foremost and EVERYTHING else comes second.
And, I further explained to her their infiltration tactics. How they target traditional values organizations by insinuating themselves into those organizations with the intent to turn them.
Her response was, they are evil people. That was many years ago.

Even my top pastor, Bishop Richard Stika of the Diocese of Koxville --- who often wanders off into the liberal thickets --- recently tweeted

"The preeminent issue for any Catholic should be to eradicate abortion which is. the killing of the most innocent and the ultimate child abuse. All other issues, immigration etc are secondary."

Amen? Amen.

If anyone claims to be a Catholic then ABORTION is a mortal sin. NO SUPPORT of abortion. No ands, ifs or buts.
It's really quite simple for everyone to understand, even foreigners. She must not be acquainted with many practicing Catholics in this country.

I agree with the eradicate abortion portion of the tweet.
My major disagreement is he calling abortion child abuse. It is dismemberment murder of the most innocent and defenseless of all.
But, you take small wins where you can get them and build on them.

In order for Catholics to really love and respect Trump, he will have to prove he has sodomized little kids, like the Catholic church hierarchy they so love, does.

21% of the vote is significant, but not if it blows out another 53% of the vote that backs limited abortion. The GOP will never get the unrestricted abortion crowd.

If the Dems run Biden then making abortion illegal could lose the election and ensure that unrestricted abortion becomes the law of the land.

We do not live in a theocracy.

I disagree, many practicing Catholics are pro-abortion, e.g., Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi.

Morons

That they even think of supporting the Democrat Facist party, that advocates infanticide up to the minute of birth and denys care to babies who survive botched abortions is despicable beyond words

F ‘em; if they want reservations, then they should vote for the one and only bona fide Injun candidate, namely liz warren (you know she’s bona fide because her ancient family recipe for lobster bisque was accepted in “Pow Wow Chow” ...

it’s not just abortion- now many parishes are pandering to homosexuals, transgenders etc- You are going to see the same kinds of splits in the catholic church that have occurred in other denominations over that issue very likely

Presidential Message on Ash Wednesday, 2020
whitehouse.gov ^ | February 26, 2020 | President Donald Trump

Posted on 2/26/2020, 2:02:11 PM by ransomnote

Melania and I wish everyone observing Ash Wednesday a peaceful and prayerful day.

For Catholics and many other Christians, Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten season that concludes with the joyful celebration of Easter Sunday. Today, millions of Christians will be marked on their foreheads with the sign of the cross. The imposition of ashes is an invitation to spend time during Lent fasting, praying, and engaging in acts of charity. This powerful and sacred tradition reminds us of our shared mortality, Christ’s saving love, and the need to repent and accept the Gospel more fully.

We join in prayer with everyone observing this holy day and wish you a prayerful Lenten journey. May you grow closer to God in your faith during this blessed season.

Indeed. It is the result of the Infiltration Tactics I spoke of to my wife many years ago. The Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts, our Churches, etc...so many traditional values organizations have been targeted and infiltrated.
The culmination of many many decades-long plans is, in my opinion, Pope Francis and his supporters.
This opinion is mine.
It is often greeted with hostility. Especially, because I am not a Catholic though my wife and children are.
I am Greek Orthodox and this fact is often used to attack my opinions/observations as prejudiced and biased. The facts I cite be damned.
The truth is, I am one of many Orthodox Christians that desire the reunification of The Church. But, not under the current Pope and his associates. In my opinion, he/they are the anti-Church.
