Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Just yesterday, in the rough-and-tumble forums of this very site, the above image was posted of people praying for President Trump. A person who has been with FR since 1999 said that the picture of "people laying hands on the president" made her "cringe". When others reacted to her sneering post, she doubled down, claiming that President Trump wasn't religious, and then proceeded to mock VP Pence for HIS piety. I was appalled, and composed a rebuttal that went on and on , citing the legitimacy of this particular ritual (The Laying on of Hands), its history in the Torah, and its current usage in Jewish, Roman Catholic, Mainstream Protestant, Evangelical, and Pentecostal communities. This ritual comes down to us all the way from Moses and Aaron, and is highly symbolic of ORDINATION and the conferring of Authority. I had it all written out...and then didn't send it. I didn't know why until I did the Study on Samekh this morning. The post was meant for TODAY, not yesterday, and for HERE, not out in the secular forum.

Samekh, with the numerical value of 60, is the Letter of Ordination, and symbolic of the Laying on of Hands!

Samekh is Shaped Like a Shield. In Cursive Script, it is just a circle, looking even More like a Shield than The Familiar Printed Letter. It is the 15th letter of the Hebrew Alphabet, and its Numerical Value is 60.

Its Meaning is to Shield, Shelter, Support, Uphold, and the Opposite: To Lean Upon, To Depend and Rely Upon

It is the Symbol of "Semikhah", The Laying on of Hands, Which is Consecration and Ordination to Ministry. This is reflected in the priestly Blessing in Numbers 6, (May The LORD Bless and Keep You) Which Contains 15 Words, And 60 Letters.

Samekh is a Perfect Circle- The Symbol of Eternity and the Endless and Divine Glory of Our God.

Samekh Represents a Sukkah- A Shelter in the Wilderness

I’m sorry you had to deal with such an ignorant idiot where that photo was concerned. I find it touching (pun unintended). Almost any other President or pol since after Reagan would make this look like a cheesy and insincere (if not outright blasphemous) photo op. Not President Trump.
