Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

As many of you know, I lost over 18,000 (not a typo!) images when my image-sharing site went down forever. Among those images were abstract designs using the Letters of the Hebrew Alphabet. I designed them specifically for use with our meditation on Psalm 119, and, if I do say so myself, they were pretty nice. Now they are all gone and irretrievable. It was a valuable lesson for me, and the same one Solomon wrestled with when he wrote Ecclesiastes. Isaiah also shared this principle when He said "The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever." (Isaiah 40) My designs are gone, but Psalm 119 is still here.

I am bringing this up because yesterday, I posted a really nice image for "Lamed" that looked like an interlinear Hebrew translation. Well, the Hebrew was correct, and the pronunciation was correct, but the "Translation" was a private meditation based on the Psalm, NOT an accurate translation. I didn't realize it at first, because my Hebrew is rudimentary at best. It turns out that the image linked back to a site that does not reflect Judaeo-Christian values. Even though the poetry was superb, it was not accurate and for that, I apologize. How ironic that my mistake was on the letter that stands for "Teachability". Well, I have just learned something! Now let's go on to "Mem".

Mem is the Tsunami Letter. It Represents Chaos brought on by Rushing WATER. Overpowering, Mighty Waves of Water. The letter even LOOKS like a Wave. The Stanza opens with a Great Exclamation of Joy. "OH HOW I LOVE THY LAW!!!!"

The Psalmist is astonished at his own emotion! That he should love the Law, even though it exposes his own sinfulness?

From This Portion we learn that The Word of God is a Rushing Fountain of Wisdom that makes us Wiser than our enemies, our teachers, and even the Ancients!

Studying the Letter gives us Knowledge, but the SPIRIT gives us WISDOM. All TRUE Wisdom comes From the Fountain of Living Water, which is The Word.

Although Mem is the 13th Letter, it is a Compound Letter (Vav and Kaph) so its numerical Value is 40.

40 Days of Fasting in the Desert before Jesus began His Ministry (NT)
40 Week Gestation Period for a Human Baby(!)
