Swiss Diocese Confirms: “All” Invited To Communion

Protestants and “all” wanting to receive Communion can do so during the first "Catholic" Mass (February 29) in the Protestant Saint Pierre Cathedral in Geneva, Switzerland.

A speaker of Lausanne/Geneva/Fribourg Diocese confirmed this to Katholisch.de. The wording includes non-Christians.

The president of the Protestant Saint Pierre parish council said it was “normal” that Geneva Protestants receive Communion at ecumenical services.

Lausanne/Geneva/Fribourg Diocese is run by “conservative” Bishop Charles Morerod who was a member of the commission responsible for dialoguing with the Society of St. Pius X.

In a sense he is right—it’s just that some people are also invited to be Baptized or go to Confession or be fully received first.

But I have my doubts that that is what he is thinking.

Who is this "he" you are speaking of?

They're required to be baptized and have gone to confession first (if one has any unconfessed mortal sins on one's soul); only baptized Catholics in a state of grace can receive Holy Communion.

I didn’t see any bishop who was quoted, directly or indirectly.

Ah, Switzerland, the home of hidden bank accounts.
With four languages they do well. But theirs REALLY is the language of money...Swiss bank accounts.

Neither did I, but in following Forum Rules, when assuming a rational universe, I only read the headline before making purely logical comments. This sometimes causes one’s comments to deviate from reality.

Sorry for the triple post. Entirely unintentional and not noticed until I posted my other response.

Still, the Hebraic (three-fold) emphasis is providentially funny.

Who am I to juskeydge?
Who am I to judge?
Who am I to judge?

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?
Whiskey, Tango Francis?
What The Francis?

Its part of the unofficial forum rule. One of the other unofficial forum rules is read the official forum rules once and then recall them from memory.

Of course you’ve only been here since 2012.

I ran into a poster who made the comment that he had been tempted to actually read the article before posting, but then he remembered his New Year’s resolution.

I replied, or possibly Freepmailed, congratulating him on his virtue, and he replied that it was the only New Years Resolution that he had ever managed to keep.

But is this even a Catholic Mass? It's apparently a Protestant chapel that's been reopened, and the article mentions the diocese (Catholic, I assume?), but there's nothing about an actual Mass being performed? Why would the Protestants open a chapel and have the first service there be a Catholic Mass? That maketh not much sense...
