Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

(Music in The Bible)

Psalm 112

Psalm 112[a]

1 Praise the Lord.[b]

Blessed are those who fear the Lord,
    who find great delight in his commands.

2 Their children will be mighty in the land;
    the generation of the upright will be blessed.
3 Wealth and riches are in their houses,
    and their righteousness endures forever.
4 Even in darkness light dawns for the upright,
    for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.
5 Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,
    who conduct their affairs with justice.

6 Surely the righteous will never be shaken;
    they will be remembered forever.
7 They will have no fear of bad news;
    their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
8 Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear;
    in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.
9 They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor,
    their righteousness endures forever;
    their horn[c] will be lifted high in honor.

10 The wicked will see and be vexed,
    they will gnash their teeth and waste away;
    the longings of the wicked will come to nothing.

Footnotes:

1. Psalm 112:1 This psalm is an acrostic poem, the lines of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father,
Who Art in Heaven,
Blessed Be Your Glorious Name Forever!
We Come Into Your Holy Presence With Praise and Singing.
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The One True God of Abraham!
Ancient of Days,
Rock of Ages,
LORD of Hosts,
Omnipotent,
Omniscient,
and Omnipresent,
You Know the end from the beginning,
And the beginning from the end.

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.

We Pray For Our President,
And other Leaders of Our Beloved USA
May They Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Sorry about the Typo in the Original Post. This Psalm is closely related to Psalm 111, not Psalm 11. My old fingers can still play piano, but typing, not so much! I'll bet you knew what I meant anyway, and didn't go scrambling back to Psalm 11 to compare them.

Psalm 112 is the second candle in out virtual Menorah. The structure is almost identical to Psalm 111, with an Intro, a Coda, and two equal stanzas in between. It opens with the famous "HALLELUJAH", which we now know is Hebrew for "PRAISE THE LORD". The King James and other older translations don't bother to translate, and just put the Hebrew Word at the top of the Psalm. Although I love the newer translations for the sake of clarity (as long as it isn't an agenda-driven paraphrase!), The Good Ol' KJV is unmatched for its Splendor and Rhythm. There is even speculation that William Shakespeare helped in the translation of Psalms in the KJV, and a quick Internet search shows some reasons why this is believed. Here is just one of them.

Our Wonderful FRiend and Prayer Warrior ConorMacNessa often posts the KJV, along with beautiful graphics, every day on this Thread, and has been doing it for Ten Years! (I especially love the Illuminated Letters in his posts.)

Looking at the Psalms as MUSIC has opened up a whole new way of reading them, and, as a musician and songwriter, I am having the time of my life doing this.

Thank you, everybody, for joining with me in singing:

"Hallelujah!"

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 5:16)

God Bless America!

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR
THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM!
And for the Preservation of the Valiant
Israeli Nation!

Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.

Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.

He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.

His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies.

He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour.

The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.

Yikes! The KJV DOES Translate “Hallelujah” as “Praise Ye The LORD>”

So now I have to go through all my translations and find the “Hallelujah” ones.

Aha! here’s one:
The Douay Version has it as “Alleluia”.

Hallelujah! (God’s Word Translation)

Hallelujah (NABRE)

Praise The Lord (NASB)

Praise Ye The Lord (KJV, and a lot of older ones)

And, of course, the Original Hebrew says “Hallelujah!”.
