Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 96

Psalm 97

1 The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad;
    let the distant shores rejoice.
2 Clouds and thick darkness surround him;
    righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
3 Fire goes before him
    and consumes his foes on every side.
4 His lightning lights up the world;
    the earth sees and trembles.
5 The mountains melt like wax before the Lord,
    before the Lord of all the earth.
6 The heavens proclaim his righteousness,
    and all peoples see his glory.

7 All who worship images are put to shame,
    those who boast in idols—
    worship him, all you gods!

8 Zion hears and rejoices
    and the villages of Judah are glad
    because of your judgments, Lord.
9 For you, Lord, are the Most High over all the earth;
    you are exalted far above all gods.
10 Let those who love the Lord hate evil,
    for he guards the lives of his faithful ones
    and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
11 Light shines[a] on the righteous
    and joy on the upright in heart.
12 Rejoice in the Lord, you who are righteous,
    and praise his holy name.

Our Father in Heaven,
Magnified and Sanctified is Your Most Holy Name!
For You Alone Are Worthy;
You Alone Are LORD;
You Alone Are The One True God of Abraham!
We Come into Your Presence With Singing
And Into Your Courts With Praise,
For Your Are Eternal,
Omnipotent,
And Righteous,
Our Creator,
and The Creator of All That Is!
It Is You That Command Nature and All It Contains,
The Earth is Yours,
and All of It's Creatures.
You can Make them Swarm or Die off;
It Is Your Call.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Yesterday was a day of contrasts. As I was pulling into a parking space at my favorite (a wonderful charity that does "clean-outs", sells the articles, and donates the proceeds to charity), I saw a bumper-sticker on a car that got my blood boiling. Here is what it said:

THE FUNDAMENTAL PROBLEM
IS FUNDAMENTALISM.

That really annoyed me! What if a bumper sticker said something like "The Universal Problem is Universalism", or something against Roman Catholics, or Jews, for that matter. I don't even consider myself a "Fundamentalist" (well...maybe sorta), but I was offended by the bumper-sticker anyway, because it singled out a particular religious group and mocked them, thinking it was clever to do so. I made up my mind to go into the thrift store, identify the culprits, and give them an earful!

So, while I was looking through the vinyl, there was an elderly couple who looked rather decrepit and out-of-touch with reality. They were also looking through the vinyl and grabbing old Pete Seeger records! I kid you not. It HAD to be them! The old guy asked me, in halting, somewhat impaired speech, what kind of music I liked. The two of them seemed really played-out and pathetic. I suspected that they were the bumper-sticker people, but I didn't have the heart to lay them out in lavender as I had planned. They were that "sad". Sure enough, as I was leaving the store, I saw them get into the car and drive away. If I had erred in not chastising them, I had erred on the side of mercy.

Now, when I got home, my sister, who is Pro-Life, alerted me in an email to The President's speech at the March For Life. I clicked onto the link and watched his wonderful speech and embraced the miraculous. Forty-Seven YEARS since Roe v Wade, and President Trump is the FIRST President to do this. The speech brought tears of joy to my eyes. What really got me was the Joy, Peace, and radiant beauty of all the women in that march. Even older ladies glowed with beauty. What a contrast to the creepy, haggard, cranky-looking people who embrace the Left-wing notion of what it means to be a woman.

Psalm 97 is a joyous celebration of God's Righteous Reign over all the earth. The term "Distant Shores" is used, meaning that He is the God of all, Jew and Gentile, and every Nation, Tribe, People, and Tongue. Verse 7 is the pivot point, the central verse, and the linchpin that combines the two halves of the Psalm. It tells us what the REAL "fundamental problem" is.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

The members of the oldest of our Christian Communities, some of which date from the days of the Apostles, suffer under cruel, merciless and unrelenting persecution. They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors, we are all "Nazarenes."
