May 14th: Restoration Date of the Kingdom to Israel

The traditionally accepted date* of the Crucifixion is Friday, April 3, A.D. 33. This is according to the Gentile calendar of the time (Julian, Roman). The Hebrew date was the 14th of Nisan, the eve of the Passover.

It follows that Resurrection Sunday was April 5, and the date of the Ascension, May 14th [Iyar 25].

ASCENSION DAY. This day, also called Holy Thursday, is that on which the church celebrates the ascension of our Saviour, the fortieth day after his resurrection from the dead, May 14, A.D. 33; first commemorated A.D. 68. Some Christian writers affirm that Christ left the print of his feet on that part of mount Olivet where he last stood; and St. Jerome says that it was visible in his time.

*This is not an argument for or against the date, but rather a simple statement about the date "as-is", just as Christmas Day is December 25th regardless of the actual birth date of Jesus, and regardless of anyone's belief or lack of belief in the event(s).

In general, 1849 reflects authority/permission, and 1411 to capability.

Jumping the gun a bit by a few decades I think.

Daniel’s seventy weeks stopped at 69 weeks upon Christ’s crucifixion. Israel’s time-clock stopped and it has been the times of the Gentiles for the last 2000 years. Israel’s clock doesn’t start again until Christ’s return for his saints begins the 70th week - the unimaginable seven years of hell on earth AKA the Tribulation.

Nobody know the day or the hour of the launch of that 70th week, but anyone paying attention will know exactly when the end of that 70th week will be. THAT will be the Restoration Date of the Kingdom to Israel.

Ascension Day is NOT Holy Thursday. Holy Thursday is Day of the Last Supper, after which Christ was betrayed and arrested. It was the night before He was crucified. Ascension Day took place 40 Days after the Resurrection.

Wonder why you think that? "And he [presumably Anti-Christ] shall confirm the covenant with the many [presumably Daniel's many, Israel] for one week [seven years]" (Daniel 9:27) is reasonable translation of the original.

"Confirm" might mean "enter into" but a more reasonable view, particularly on the facts is "confirm an existing 7 year covenant"; Anti-Christ confirms his commitment to the time schedule of events in an existing agreement.

Israel already has an existing seven year agreement with a series of time fixed events some of which have already occurred--the time line has stopped running because the time commitment for the next event was not met.

I think the Abomination of Desolation event is likely to be seen and understood so at that point, the time to the end of three and one-half years is likely to be seen on the calendar. But before then, any understanding of a time line is likely to be less than certain.

The time line on Paul's description of the Day of the Lord in I Thess 5:9 ("for God has not appointed us to wrath") seems to tell "us" that the events of 4:13 to 5:2 will occur after the conditions described have become the expression of God's Wrath. Revelation 6:17 tells us that the day of His wrath is hand--after the events of Revelation Chapter 6 have occurred. At hand--it has not started yet but is about to; or contemporaneous.

I also wonder why the Roman Church is so locked into 33AD for the Crucifixion. Passover fell on a Friday twice during the reign of Pilate--in 30 AD and again in 33 AD.

The wide range of secondary sources really connects best with 30 AD; further, the internal schedule of Jewish festivals in the Gospel of John calculates from a Jubilee year to fit 30 AD, not 33 AD.

The actual calculation of the 483 years of Daniel 9:24-27, in my opinion starts with the decree of Artaxerxes. I agree with the above post that the 483 years ends with the crucifixion. The measure of the 7th year of Artaxerxes for purposes of the Jewish translation would have started on the first day of the first year following the year in which Artaxerxes killed Artabanus (who had usurped the throne from Artaxerxes' father); not from the year in which Artabanus assumed the throne. It looks to me as though the 483 years ends in 30AD.

Interesting that both of these dates involve feet. From the original post:

The gist of my original post was that here is this traditional Gentile date for the Ascension - "May 14th" - which was the date when the disciples asked Jesus,

"Wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?"

Then it "just so happened" that this was the same Gentile date that the nations experienced as the date for the rebirth of the State of Israel in 1948.

The so-called End-Times prophecy experts are the ones big on saying that the establishment of the State of Israel is what started the "prophetic countdown", yet what, this slipped right by them? Maybe it's out there, but you'd think they'd be all over this.

Furthermore, it was this same Gentile date (verses the Hebrew date a few weeks earlier) that President Trump chose in 2018 for the opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem. It was the recognized Gentile date that marked the 70th birthday for the State of Israel.

At that time both the Jewish and Gentile world took note of what has been the case ever since the word "Jerusalem" has existed in that form - that the USA *is* within JerUSAlem. Banners large and small were hanging about Jerusalem, blessing President Trump from Jerusalem "D.C." to Washington "D.C."

Truth is stranger than fiction, and definitely way more interesting and shocking than what is sold in the End-times prophecy marketplace. God owns all the calendars anyway.

I guess what I’m saying is after Christ’s death there’s no time clock. Israel has a time-clock, as seen in Daniel 9:24-27. The time clock stops upon Messiah being “cut off” (Daniel’s 69th week - Jesus crucified). Upon Jesus’ crucifixion Israel’s time clock stopped and the time of the Gentiles begins as Paul prophesied in Acts 28:28. Right now, there’s no clear time-clock - only the Father knows when stuff will happen during the current age. That is why Jesus said no man knows the day or the hour of Jesus’ return (Matt 24:36, 42).

However, when Daniel’s seventieth week begins, the time clock begins again. The Book of Revelation is all about time. I believe the time-clock begins again upon the sudden rapture of the church, as Scripture says the Day of the Lord begins “as a thief in the night” (Matt 24:40; 1 Thessalonians 5:2; 2 Peter 3:10).
